October 10 – 12, 2021 News Release

Threats/incendiary material

October 10, 2021 at 5:10 AM, the Brockville Police Service responded to a complaint that a tenant in a King Street West apartment building was threatening to burn the building down.  The caller stated that there was a strong smell of gasoline.  Brockville Fire and Police responded to the scene and began an evacuation of the residents.  A 42-year-old female was arrested for possession of incendiary material, mischief and uttering threats.  The investigation revealed that the female was upset with a 43-year-old male; that led her to threatening to burn the building down and pour gasoline all through her apartment.  She was held in custody for a bail hearing. 

Mischief

October 10, 2021 at 8:35 PM, officers were called to the Brock Trail behind “The Mill” on Water Street West.  The complainant reported that he observed four youth damage a park bench plaster a wall with graffiti.  Two 14 year-old males, a 13-year-old male and an 18 year old male were arrested and charged with mischief.  They will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

Bail Violations

October 10, 2021 just before midnight, an employee of the “Quickie” store on William Street contacted police to move a group of people off the property.  One 30-year-old male was so severely intoxicated that he was arrested under the Liquor Licence Act for his own safety.  A second 30-year-old male was wanted by our service for an outstanding warrant.  That male had provided police a false name, but his identity was revealed and he was arrested. The intoxicated male was held in custody until sober and released with a $55 fine.  The second male was held in custody for a bail hearing.  He is charged with breach of a release condition and personation.

Bail Violations

October 9, 2021 at 10:30 AM, officers responded to a residence on Kensington Parkway for a neighbour dispute.  A 47-year-old male was charged with breaching a release order by communicating with his neighbour.  There has been some history between the complainant and the accused that previously led to charges with the non-communication condition. He will appear in court in the future to answer to the charge.

Theft/Assault Police

October 9, 2021 shortly after 6:00 PM, officers were called to Walmart on Parkedale Avenue for a shoplifting complaint.  The accused had left the store with $300 worth of merchandise.  The loss prevention officer arrested and then turned the accused over the police.  The  32-year-old female had a warrant for her arrest for failing to attend court.  When officers took custody of the accused she became assaultive and spat on three officers.  She is now charged with three counts of assaulting police and theft.  She was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Robbery

October 8, 2021 at 2:38 AM, the Brockville Police Service were contacted regarding a robbery at the Circle K on King Street West.  The store employee reported that a male suspect entered the store stating that a waiting male would kill the accused if the clerk did not turn over money to him.  The clerk complied and the suspect fled in a vehicle.  The accused was identified through the store’s CCTV system by responding officers.  He was arrested shortly after 7:00 AM that same day.  The 36-year-old accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered

October 8, 2021 at 7:50 AM, a motor vehicle reported stolen out of the Toronto was recovered at the Canadian Tire lot on Parkedale Avenue.  Staff had contacted police to report the abandoned vehicle.  A tow was contacted.  When the tow operator arrived on scene with police, a 44-year-old female was located in the vehicle that was now running. She was arrested at the scene and held in custody for a bail hearing.

Assault

October 7, 2021 just before 4:00 PM, officers responded to a residence on Perth Street for a disturbance.  As a result of the investigation a 30-year-old female has been charged with assault on a 42-year-old female.  The two parties are known to each other and the assault was the result of an argument.  The accused will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

October 6 – 7, 2021 News Release

Impaired

October 6, 2021 just before midnight, officers from the Brockville Police Service conducted a traffic stop at the west end of Central Avenue.  The 60-year-old male driver had an odour of alcohol on his breath and subsequently submitted to testing on a roadside screening device.  The driver failed that test and he was brought to the station for further testing.  The accused then refused to provide a sample of his breath to the qualified breath technician.  He is now charged with failing to provide a sample of breath.  His vehicle was impounded for 7 days and his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.  He will appear in court to answer to the charges at a later date.

 

Foot Pursuit

September 26, 2021, around 5:30 AM, a suspect was captured on security cameras entering a shed at a residence on Brock Street.  The accused removed $300 worth of property.  The security footage was provided to officers who identified the 20-year-old male suspect. 

On October 5, 2021 at 11:30 AM, an officer on patrol located the accused in the area of Pearl Street and William Street.  The officer approached and arrested the male for the theft.  The male who was cooperative at first, then pulled away and fled on foot.  The officer initially lost sight of the accused, but he was alerted to his whereabouts by a homeowner reporting that a male had run into his home.  He was located inside the residence. A struggle between the officer and the accused ensued.  The officer was able to keep control of the male until other officers arrived.  He was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.  The male is now charged with theft, possession of property obtained by crime, escape lawful custody and assaulting a peace officer.

 

Warrants/MVC

October 5, 2021 at 2:24 PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist.  The complainant who was operating the motor vehicle contacted police to report the collision.  The cyclist attempted to leave the accident scene on his bike, but was located a short distance away.  He was not injured as a result of the accident, but he did have a warrant for his arrest for failing to attend court.   He was arrested and released with a new court date.

 

Weapons

October 5, 2021 at 3:24 PM, officers responded to a weapons call in the area of John Street and King Street West.  Several calls were received regarding this occurrence reporting that one person had been sprayed with bear spray and that a male had a firearm.  Callers indicated that a male pointed a firearm out of a second story window from one of the apartments in the area.  To complicate matters schools in the area had dismissed their students.  Patrol officers along with members of the crime unit responded to the area.  Officers attempted to secure the area to contain and isolate the threat.  The investigation led to the arrest of a 26-year-old male for 1) pointing a firearm 2) uttering a threat and a 29-year-old female for 1) assault with a weapon.  The two suspects had an argument with a 25-year-old victim.  The female accused then sprayed the victim with bear spray.  The male accused then went to the apartment window threatening to shoot the victim.  The weapon he used turned out not to be a real firearm, but an imitation.    Both were charged and released with future court dates.

 

Stunt Driving

October 5, 2021 shortly after 9:00 PM, officers conducting traffic enforcement on North August Road stopped a vehicle traveling 111 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.  The 59-year-old driver was charged with stunt driving, his vehicle impounded for 14 days and his licence suspended for 30 days.

Warrants

On the 1st of October, 2021 shortly after 5pm police located a local 42 year old male who was wanted for failing to appear in court in relation to a charge for impaired driving from July 2021. He was released with a future court date.

On the 2nd of October, 2021 at approximately 2am, police were called to a residence in the north end in relation to a possible domestic. While there a 21 year old male was located hiding inside the residence. He was wanted as a result of a robbery in May 2021. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing. There have been no charges at this time in relation to the initial call for service.

 

Impaired Drive/RIDE check

On the 1st of October, 2021 at approximately 10:30pm Brockville Police were conducting a RIDE program in the area of King St and Courthouse Ave. A 57 year old female was spoken to at the RIDE program where a roadside device was utilized. She subsequently failed and was arrested for being over the legal limit, she provided samples registering more than double the limit. She was released with a 7 day vehicle impound, a 90 day license suspension and a future court date.

 

Breach Charges

On the 2nd of October, 2021 at 10pm police on general patrol located a 43 year old male who was out past his curfew and without his surety. He was arrested for the charge of breach of release order and breach of probation. Further search of the male revealed him to be in possession of a debit card and cheques that were not in his name. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Warrants

September 30, 2021 at 10:53 AM, officers on routine patrol located and arrested a 33-year-old Brockville resident for his outstanding warrant.  He was arrested without incident and released at the scene with a new court date.

 

Theft

September 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM, officers were called to a shoplifting incident at Canadian Tire on Parkedale Avenue.  A 26-year-old female had attempted to leave the store with $200 worth of merchandise.  She was apprehended by the loss prevention officer and then turned over to officers.  She has been charged with theft under $5000 and will appear in court at a later date.

 

Indecent Acts

September 30, 2021 at 12:45 PM, the Brockville Police received a call of a 60-year-old male committing an indecent act at William Street and Brock Street.  The male was located by officers and arrested.  He will appear in court at a later date.

 

Bail violations

September 30, 2021 at 7:55 PM, officers were called to the VIA Rail Station to assist with a passenger that was causing issues on a train bound for Montreal.  Officers discovered that the 35-year-old passenger was in breach of a bail condition.  He was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.

Assault

September 29, 2021 just before 4:00 PM, officers were dispatched to a disturbance on Cartier Court.  As a result of the call a 25-year-old male was arrested for assault causing bodily harm as he used an aerosol can to hit the male victim in the back of the head.  The assault caused a large laceration that required medical attention.  The two involved are acquaintances and the assault was the end result of an argument. The accused will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

 

 Theft

September 29, 2021 at 4:19 PM, officers responded to a theft complaint at the Real Canadian Superstore on Parkdale Avenue.  The 52-year-old accused male was arrested by the Loss Prevention Officer and turned over to police.  He was observed selecting a quantity of merchandise and leaving the store without any attempt to pay.  He will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

 

Warrant

September 29, 2021 at 6:00 PM, officers were on routine patrol on King Street West when they observed a 37-year-old female that had a warrant for her arrest.  The accused was subject of an arrest warrant for breaching a probation order.  She was arrested without incident and held in custody for a bail hearing.

September 29, 2021 at 9:48 PM, a 44-year-old Brockville resident was arrested for breaching a bail condition by being out past his curfew.  The accused had been warned several times for breaching his conditions in the past. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Bail violations

September 29, 2021 at 10:34 PM, an officer on routine patrol on Stewart Boulevard arrested a 53-year-old male for breaching his bail conditions.  The male was on conditions to be in his residence between the hours of 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM.  A search incident to arrest led to an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (replica handgun).  He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

September 24 – 28, 2021 News Release

Theft/Drugs

September 24, 2021 just before 5:00 PM, the Brockville Police Service were contacted regarding a theft of electronic equipment from the post office on Buell Street.  On September 27, 2021 at 1:40 PM, officers were contacted by employees of the post office indicating that a 43-year-old male was at the post office trying to sell this electronic equipment back to them.  Officers attended and arrested the accused for possession of property obtained by crime.  He was also charged with being in possession of a controlled substance after he was searched incident to arrest and officers located a small quantity of methamphetamine.  He will appear in court at a date in the future to answer to the charges.

 

Break & Enter

DNA hit solves a crime.  On July 12, 2021 at 4:54 AM, officers from the Brockville Police Service responded to an alarm at the LCBO on King Street West.  The front window to the store was broken.  A witness indicated that a suspect used a crow bar to break the window, then grab some items and leave the area.  Evidence collected at the scene led to a DNA submission that resulted in a 50-year-old Brockville resident being identified as the suspect.  On September 27, 2021 at 2:10 PM the male was arrested on Buell Street by an officer on routine patrol.  He will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

 

Warrants

September 27, 2021 at 5:08 PM, a 40-year-old Brockville woman surrendered to police for an outstanding warrant for breaching a probation order and failing to attend court.  The accused was arrested for the probation breach in June, but subsequently failed to attend court as was required.  She was arrested without incident and then released with a new court date.

 

Warrants/Drugs

September 26, 2021 at 9:47 PM, officers stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Central Avenue and Balmoral Place for a Highway Traffic Act violation.  The 53-year-old male driver had a warrant for his arrest out of Kingston Ontario.  Officers located a large quantity of methamphetamine in his possession.  He was charged by our service for being in possession of a controlled substance and turned over to Kingston Police for their warrant.

Warrants

September 21, 2021 around 9:00 AM, a 41-year-old male was located and arrested by officers on Ormond Street for an outstanding bench warrant. The officers were on routine patrol when they observed the wanted party.  He was arrested without incident and held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Domestic

September 21, 2021 just after 11:00 AM, the Brockville Police Service received a request for a well-being check on a female who was possibly in a domestic dispute.  The complainant indicated that they were sent a text message “call police”.  Officers attended the address given and located a female that had been assaulted by her spouse.  Police arrested a37-year-old male for multiple charges.  He was charged with assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, uttering threats and three counts of choking.  The male was later released from court after a contested bail hearing.

 

Public Intoxication

September 21, 2021 at 6:46 PM, officers were called to an apartment on Kensington Parkway for disturbance.  An intoxicated 31-year-old male was located in the area and arrested for his own safety.  He was held in custody until sober and released with a Provincial Offences Notice for being intoxicated in public.

 

Impaired/motor vehicle collision

September 21, 2021 at 9:26 PM, the Brockville Police Service responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Comstock Crescent and Dana Street.  Callers indicated the vehicle had struck a curb causing the front wheel to sheer off the vehicle.  The driver then fled to his residence a short distance away.  He was arrested and transported to a neighbouring police service to provide samples of his breath.  The 40-year-old male provided samples over the legal limit.  He is charged with operating a conveyance while impaired and operation of a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration of more than 80 milligrams of alcohol.  He will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

September 22, 2021 around 2:00 AM, officer located a 40-year-old male on King Street West who was accompanied by a female that he was on conditions not to associate with.  He was arrested without incident and held in custody for a bail hearing.

Warrants

September 20, 2021 around 8:30 AM, a 37-year-old male surrendered to court staff for an outstanding bench warrant.  A warrant was issued for his arrest after he had missed a court appearance.  He was later released with a new court date.

 

Impaired

September 20, 2021 at 10:36 PM, the Brockville Police Service received multiple complaints about an erratic vehicle being operated throughout the city. The vehicle was located at 2:45 AM on King Street West at Market Street West.  The 46-year-old operator was spoken to and found to be impaired by alcohol.  He was arrested and later provided samples of his breath of double the legal limit.  The male has been charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and operate with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol.  His vehicle was impounded for 7 days and his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.   He will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

Domestic Assault

September 18, 2021 around 11:00 AM, officers responded to a domestic dispute at a residence in the center of the city.  Officers located a 35-year-old female with bruising to her cheek caused from an assault by a 27-year-old male.  He was arrested for assault and will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.

 

Impaired

September 18, 2021 at 8:20 PM, officers were conducting a RIDE program when they stopped a vehicle for speeding 83 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.  A 22-year-old novice driver subsequently failed an approved screening device and was arrested for operating a conveyance with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in her system.  She then provided two samples of her breath to a qualified breath technician and was charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and drive with more than 80 milligrams.  She faced additional charges under the Highway Traffic Act for speeding and being a novice driver with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol.  She was also charged under the Liquor Licence Act for having open alcohol in her vehicle.  Her vehicle was impounded for 7 days and her driver’s licence was suspended automatically for 90 days.

 

Assault Police

September 17, 2021 at 5:15 PM, a 33-year-old male from Brockville was arrested for threatening charges out of the Kingston area.  He was located on King Street West.  The male was returned to the Brockville Police Service to await transport to Kingston by their officers.  When transportation arrived for the escort, the male assaulted an officer by striking him in the face.  He is now charged with assaulting an officer in the course of his duty.

 

September 16 – 17, 2021 News Release

Disturbance

September 16, 2021 at 9:20 PM, officers responded to a residence on Kensington Parkway for a domestic dispute.  A 31-year-old male was arrested for causing a disturbance.  The officers had dealt with the initial call having left the accused at a residence.  The male exited the residence after police left and began to cause a disturbance by yelling and screaming on the street.  The male was intoxicated.  He was held in custody until sober and released unconditionally.

 

Medical/bail violation

September 17, 2021 at 12:30 AM, officers on routine patrol came across an unconscious male at the intersection of Pearl Street West and William Street.  An ambulance was called for the male who was the victim of an apparent overdose.  That male is recovering at the hospital.  While officers were dealing with the medical call, a 33-year-old female emerged.  She was on a release order with the condition to be in her residence. She was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.
