July 24 – 25, 2018 Incidents

Warrant

On the evening of the 24th of July officers were on patrol in the south end of the city and observed a 26 year old woman known to police to have an outstanding arrest warrant. Officers attempted to make an arrest and she fled on foot. Officers found her trying to hide and arrested her. She will appear in bail court today at 2 o’clock.

July 23 – 24, 2018 Incidents

Warrants

On the 23rd of July, 2018 a 39 year old Brockville man entered a vehicle parked at the Brockville General Hospital and stole the owner’s wallet. Witnesses called police and armed with an excellent description of the man, police located him still in the area. The man ran from police however was apprehended following a foot pursuit. The man had an outstanding warrant for his arrest in relation to a number of criminal matters. He was held in custody for a bail hearing charged with numerous criminal offences. The wallet was recovered and returned to its owner.

 

Mental Health Act

In completely unrelated matters, a 52 year old man and an 18 year old man were apprehended under the authority of the Mental Health Act and transported to the Brockville General Hospital for necessary assessments.

 

July 22 – 23, 2018 Incidents

Outstanding Warrants

On the 22nd of July, 2018 at approximatley 05:30 police investigated a 46 year old Brockville female and discovered an outstanding warrant for her arrest. The woman was arrested on the authority of the outstanding warrant and was held for a bail hearing.

 

Thefts – Reminder to the public

The Brockville Police Service has received numerous calls of thefts from cars, garages and sheds. Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles, garages and houses when unattended. These are often crimes of opportunity and, in most cases, preventable.

July 21 – 22, 2018 Incidents

Shoplifting

On the 21st of July, 2018 at approximately 2p.m., the Brockville Police Service responded to a shoplifting in progress at a store in the North of the City. Information was that the suspects appeared to be a mother with her daughter or teenage youth, concealing items in a purse. The 2 females did purchase some of the merchandise, however, did not pay for the concealed items. The 40 year old, local female and her 16 year old daughter were arrested at the exit of the store for theft. It was also found that the females were in possession of stolen goods from a neighboring store. Each were charged with theft under $5,000 and released with a future court date. The value of the recovered goods was approximately $50.00.

 

Home Invasion

On the 21st of July 2018 at approximately 10p.m., the Brockville Police Service along with Brockville Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service responded to a complaint of a home invasion which took place at an apartment complex in the North area of the City. Information was that 3 unknown males wearing disguises entered the residence and assaulted the occupants by spraying them with a mace/pepper type spray. The male resident attempted to defend himself which resulted in him being struck in the head with an object. Both victims were later taken to the hospital. The female victim was later released from the Brockville General Hospital and the male victim was transported to the Kingston General hospital due to injuries. The unknown suspects left the residence after taking a significant quantity of cash.

 

Drugs

On the 21st of July, 2018 the Brockville Police Service investigated a known, local, 30 year old male for bail violations. As a result of the investigation the man and his 29 year old accomplice were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine, speed, and crystal methamphetamine. As a result police seized a quantity of drugs including; cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, speed pills, and anabolic steroids. Additionally cash, digital scales, cell phones and a vehicle were also seized as offence related property. Of note the local 30 year old male is also facing additional charges for breaching his probation order from a previous drug related conviction.

 

July 18 – 19, 2018 Incidents

Warrant

On July 18th at 11:00 am, a 40 year old male surrendered to police for his warrant of arrest for beaching his probation order. The warrant was obtained by his probation officer for various breaches. He was released with a future court date.

 

Bail Violations

A 31 year old male drew the attention of police last night at 10:50 pm. He was located near the intersection of King St. West and Perth St. in an intoxicated state. He was consuming alcohol in public and then broke a bottle on the street. Officers arrested the male as he was on bail conditions for an assault charge with conditions not to consume alcohol. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

July 17 – 18, 2018 Incidents

Assault

On July 17, 2018 a female complainant attended the Brockville Police Service to report a domestic occurrence that had happened earlier in the day. She reported that her husband had pushed to the ground striking her head. She had been transported to the hospital by ambulance. She later attended the service to report the incident. A 38 year old male has been charged with assault and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

July 16 – 17, 2018 Incidents

Threats/Assault

On July 5th, 2018 police responded to a domestic dispute where a female reported she had been assaulted and threatened by her common law spouse. The 39 year old suspect had fled the scene the night of the incident. Officers obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On July 16th, the male surrendered to police for this outstanding warrant. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Threats

On the 13th of July a complainant attended the Brockville Police Service to report that she had been threatened by her spouse. The complaint was investigated and officers obtained a warrant of arrest for a 21 year old male.

On the 16th of July at 5:45 pm, officers located the male walking in the city. He was arrested without incident. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing for the charges of threatening to cause bodily harm, administering a noxious substance and breach of probation.

 

Suspicious Person

At 4:00 am on July 17th a complainant contacted police to report a suspicious person in his back yard. When confronted the male advised he was looking for his stolen bike. The complainant photographed the male.

The suspect, Kevin Dunn 39 years, was identified by officers. He is currently wanted on charges stemming from another investigation; please contact our service at 613-342-0127 with any information.

July 13 – 16, 2018 Incidents

Warrants

On Friday July 13th, police arrested a 31 year old male for failing to attend court. The male had attended the police service for an unknown reason. The male had been scheduled to appear for a court appearance on the 13th of July, had failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. An officer that had been in court for another matter recognized the male standing in the station’s parking lot and arrested him on the strength of the warrant.   He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Bail Violations

A 27 year old male called police on July 13th at 9:50 pm to stand by while his ex-spouse collected her belongings. Officers attended and detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath contrary to his bail conditions. The male has been charged with failing to comply with his undertaking and provided with a future court date. 

 

Bail Violations/drugs

On July 14th at 10:16 pm, officers responded to reports of an intoxicated male walking on Parkedale Ave at Windsor Dr. Officers located a 22 year old male who was on conditions from a previous offence, not to consume alcohol. The male was arrested, searched, which led to the discovery of a quantity of drugs. He was charged with failing to comply with an officer in charge undertaking and possession of a controlled substance.

 

Motor Vehicle Collision

On July 15th at 12:30 am, the Brockville Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision on Laurier Blvd. The vehicle, a grey Kia Optima, had veered off of the road for approximately 50 meters and collided with a tree. Through the officer’s investigation it was discovered that the female driver had picked up her 32 year old boyfriend from a downtown location. They engaged in an argument during the drive home which escalated into an assault on the female. The male then grabbed the steering wheel causing the vehicle to leave the road way and collide with a tree.

The male has been charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm and assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

July 12 – 13, 2018 Incidents

Fraud/warrants

On July 12th at 12:21 pm, a 24 year old male was arrested for fraud and his outstanding warrant. The male was attempting to cash a fraudulent cheque at a bank on Parkedale Ave. The staff alerted police who attended the bank. The male is well known to police and they were aware that he had a warrant for his arrest. The male was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

RIDE

Officers conducted a RIDE program on July 12th beginning at 5:00 pm. The first vehicle they observed was being operated by Andrew Beauregard, 41 years. The male was known to both officers working the RIDE program. The male being on a criminal code driving prohibition, attempts to flee the area and leaves the vehicle abandoned. He is quickly located by one of the officers at the rear of one of the residences. He is arrested and searched leading to the discovery of a quantity of drugs. His borrowed vehicle was impounded for 45 days and he has been held in custody for a bail hearing.

July 11 – 12, 2018 Incidents

Bail Violations

On July 11, 2018 at 8:30 am, a 21 year old male was located on Parkedale Ave breaching a condition of his bail. The male was found to be in the company of a 20 year old female that he was prohibited from associating with. The male was arrested for the breach. As officers attempted to arrest the male the female intervened and was arrested for obstructing the officers.

The male has been held in custody pending a bail hearing and the female was released at the scene with a future court date.

 

Warrants

On July 11, 2018 at 10:00 am a 27 year old male turned himself in to police on his warrant for failing to attend court. The accused was remanded into custody and turned over to jail staff who discovered a quantity of illicit drugs concealed in his shoe. At the time of his arrest the male had apparently concealed the items in a manner that cannot be repeated for the sake of decency. He is now facing a charge of being in possession of a controlled substance.

 

Shoplifting

On July 11th at 12:30 am, a 50 year old female was arrested by loss prevention officers at Wal-Mart for shoplifting $300 worth of merchandise. She was turned over to the Brockville Police who issued a summons for theft.

 

Door to Door Sales

Several complaints of door to door sales persons have been reported. The latest, on July 11th, a male was in the area posing as ADT sales persons. ADT advised they do not have any sales persons in the area. Please contact our service if you have any concerns in regards to sales persons. Any door to door sales persons are required to be licensed by the city.
