February 17 – 18, 2021 News Release

Warrants

A 36 year old male surrendered to police on February 17th for an outstanding warrant.  The male had been released for prior charges, but failed to comply with the conditions of his release.  A warrant was issued for his arrest.  When the male learned of the warrant he turned himself in to officers and was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Warrants/traffic offences

On February 18, 2021 at 3:20 AM an officer on routine patrol stopped a vehicle for speeding on King Street.  The 27 year old driver had a warrant for his arrest and was not properly licensed to drive.  The vehicle did not have the proper licence plate, nor did have a proper number plate light.  He was arrested on the strength of the warrant and charged with speeding, drive while under suspension, improper licence plates and improper number plate light.  The male will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

February 12 – 14, 2021 News Release

Bail violations

On the 14th of February 2021 at 9:35 PM an officer conducting mobile patrol King St. West observed a white Mazda sedan travelling southbound on Perth St., approaching the intersection of King St. W. The white Mazda was observed to have its passenger headlight out.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and discovered a 32 year old passenger in the vehicle who was breaching her release order by being out past her 9:00 PM curfew.  She was arrested without incident and charged with the breach.  She will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

Drugs/Bail violations

On the 13th of February at 7:15 AM officers responded to an address in the north end for a domestic disturbance.  As a result of that call a 43 year old male was arrested for breaching a release order by being at that residence.  A search incident to arrest led to further charges for being in possession of a controlled substance.  The male was held in custody for a bail hearing where he was released on conditions by the court.

Bail Violations

On February 13th, 2021 at 11:30 AM officers responded to a dropped 911 call at a downtown residence.  Officers attended and investigated the call and discovered the 39 year old accused female inside the residence.  She had previously been charged and was on conditions not to be at that residence.  She was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.  The female was brought before the court for a “show cause” hearing where she was released on new conditions by the court.

Fraud

A local resident is the victim of a phone scam where he lost several thousands of dollars.  The victim was contacted by a suspect by phone. The victim then gave them access to his computer in order to repair viruses.  The victim’s computer was then hacked and the suspects gained access to his accounts. 

Don’t give out personal information

Beware of unsolicited calls where the caller asks you for personal information, such as:

  • Your name
  • Your address
  • Your birthdate
  • Your Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • Your credit card or banking information

If you didn’t initiate the call, you don’t know who you’re talking to.

Impaired

On February 13th at 6:16 PM the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a possible impaired driver that was reportedly driving all over the road.  The vehicle was located and stopped by officers on Parkedale Ave. The 34 year old driver was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance and drive with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol.  His vehicle was impounded for 7 days and his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.  He will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

Bail violations/threats

A 28 year old male is facing charges of uttering a threat and breaching a release order.  The Brockville Police Service received the threatening complaint on the 9th of February.  The male was to be located and charged for the threats.

On the 12th of February he was then observed by the complainant breaching his bail conditions by being at or near an address on Perth Street that he was prohibited from being at.  The male was arrested and held in custody by police.  The male was released by the courts after a bail hearing on Saturday.

Medical assist

On February 12th at 10:25 AM members of the Brockville Police Service responded to a call for a “body” on the floor at a business on Pearl Street.  The attending officers quickly realized that the “body” was someone that had overdosed and immediately administered Naloxone.  Paramedics then arrived on scene and transported the male to the Brockville General Hospital.  The male had reportedly used what was believed to be fentanyl shortly before the overdose.  The male was later released by medical staff.

Be Aware and Use Safely

There has been an increase of drug overdoses in the area.

    1. If you are going to use, don’t use alone.
    2. Don’t mix drugs.
    3. Use a small amount and test your drug first. If you are trying a new drug or haven’t used in 3 or more days use a small amount first.
    4. Know the signs of an overdose.
    5. Get a Naloxone Kit.
    6. CALL 911 – All overdoses are a medical emergency.

February 9 – 10, 2021 News Release

Break and Enter

On January 4th the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a theft from the lockers at the Margarita apartments.  The suspect was identified through CCTV footage.  He was located by police on routine patrol on February 9th at 11:00 PM.  The 36 year old male was arrested without incident and issued a court date in the future.

February 8 – 9, 2021 News Release

Drugs/bail violations

On February 8th at 2:00 PM an officer was conducting an unrelated investigation on George St. when he observed a 49 year old male breaching his release condition.  The male was observed in a vehicle accompanied by a female that he was prohibited from communicating with.   He was arrested and searched.  The officer located a small quantity of cocaine in his possession.  He will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges of 1) being in possession of a controlled substance and 2) fail to comply with a release order.

The 32 year old female that the male was observed with had a warrant for her arrest for failing to attend court.  She was arrested and issued a new court date.

Bail violation and resist arrest

On February 8th at 3:10 PM Officers responded to a downtown residence for a disturbance.  As a result of attending the call the officers developed reasonable grounds to arrest a 34 year old female for failing to comply with a release order.  The female was on conditions not to be around a male that had been present at the address.  The female was arrested despite her resistance.  She was issued a new court date and released from custody being charged with 1) fail to comply with a release order 2) fail to comply with probation and 3) resisting arrest.

The male that had been the reason for the call is facing two charges of assault and failing to comply with a release order.  The male had reportedly assaulted the above female and her mother.  The male had left prior to officers attending the call.  The male has not been located at this time.

Bail violations

On February 9th at 1:22 AM officers responded to an address on Charles St. for a 45 year old male that had returned to a residence that he was on conditions not to be at.  The male had previously been charged and released on conditions for mischief.  The male was arrested and held in custody on Friday February 5th, then released from custody yesterday after a bail hearing.  He then breached his release order in less than 24 hours and will appear again today for a bail hearing. 

Impaired

On February 9, 2021 at 3:50 AM an officer conducted a traffic stop on Central Ave.  The officer detected an odour of alcoholic beverage from the 22 year old female driver and made a road side demand for a breath sample.   The driver failed that roadside test and was turned over to a qualified breath technician.  She was charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and drive with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol.   Her vehicle was impounded for 7 days and her driver’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days.  She will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

Domestic Assault

On February 8th at 10:00 PM officers investigated a domestic incident that had occurred earlier in the day.  The 19 year old pregnant victim attended the service to report the incident.  The female had visible injuries as a result of being assaulted by her 22 year old spouse.  She was brought to the Brockville General Hospital for treatment. The male was located and arrested at 1:30 AM charged with assault causing bodily harm, choking and uttering threats.  He is being held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

February 4 – 5, 2021 News Release

Missing Person – Rebecca Neilson

The Brockville Police Service is continuing its investigation into the missing person’s case of Rebecca Neilson.  (Please see the attached updated photo)

Rebecca was last seen on morning of the 2nd of February 2021 where she left a residence located within the City of Brockville’s center area.

Rebecca Nielson is referred to as ‘Becky’.  She is approximately 5’5”, approximately 125lbs, blue eyes and shoulder length blonde hair.  She may be wearing glasses and has several ear piercings.

Mischief

A 45 year old male was arrested on the 4th of February at 9:00 AM for mischief.  The male had repeatedly interfered with the lawful enjoyment of their residence.  The male had been removed from the property several times, but kept returning.  He was issued released documents and will appear in court at a later date.

 

Robbery

On February 4th, at 12 noon a delivery driver delivering medication was robbed.  As the driver left his vehicle approaching an apartment on Glenwood Place he was approached by two suspects.  He was sprayed with what is believed to be dog repellant by one suspect and the second suspect grabbed the bag of medication.  The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle driven by a female.

Suspect 1: Male white, 5’4, 20-30 years of age, heavy build, blue jeans, canvas jacket and toque

Suspect 2: Male white, 5’10, late 40s, dark winter coat, baseball hat, jeans

February 1 – 2, 2021 News Release

Neighbour Dispute

An ongoing neighbour dispute led to criminal charges of mischief yesterday.  On the 1st of February 2021 shortly after 4:00 PM officers responded to an address on Pearl Street West in response to a neighbour dispute.  Officers arrested a 48 year old female who kicked and damaged her neighbour’s door after an argument over noise.  She was released from police custody with a future court date.

Domestic

A 39 year old male was arrested and charged with assault and uttering a threat stemming from a domestic dispute.  Officers responded to an address in the center of the city on the 1st of February at 9:30 PM.  As a result of their investigation the male was arrested for assault on his spouse and uttering a threat.  He was released from custody with a future court date.

January 29 – February 1, 2021 News Release

Suspicious Person/Drugs

On the 29th of January 2021 shortly after 9:00 AM the Brockville Police Service began receiving calls about a suspicious male in the area of Elizabeth Street.  The male had been trying different doors in the area.  He was approached by residents in the area who reported the male was acting very strangely.  He managed to catch a ride to city hall where he was located by officers.  As a result of their interaction with the male he was arrested and searched.  Officers located a quantity of crystal methamphetamine on the male.  He was charged with being in possession of the controlled substance as well as being in breach of a bail condition.  The male will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

Warrants/weapons/drugs

A 16 year old female was arrested by officers on the 29th of January at 10:21 PM for an outstanding warrant.  The 16 year old was located as a passenger in a vehicle being operated by a 44 year old male on Stewart Blvd.  The officers stopped the vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act offence.  Officers learned of her warrant at the time of the stop and arrested her.  She was found to be in possession of a switch blade, a large quantity of cannabis, psilocybin, crack cocaine and fentanyl.  She was further charged with being in possession of more than 30 grams of cannabis, possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of a prohibited weapon. She was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

January 26 – 27, 2021 News Release

Drugs

On January 27, 2021 at 1:40 AM an officer on routine patrol observed a vehicle being operated in the downtown core.  The vehicle made some evasive maneuvers and left the area.  The officer located the vehicle parked in the cemetery on county road 2 west of the city.  A 32 year old female and a 30 year old male were located in the vehicle using methamphetamine.  The male was charged with being in possession of a controlled substance. Both were charged under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act for failing to comply with an order made during a declared emergency; a $750 fine. 

Warrants

On January 26th, 2021 around 11:30 AM officers were on King Street west when they observed a 47 year old male that had a warrant for his arrest.  When he saw officers the male fled on foot, but was arrested a short distance away.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

January 25 – 26, 2021 News Release

Probation Warrant

On January 25th at 2:00 PM a 43 year old male turned himself in to police as a warrant for his arrest had been issued by his probation officer.  The male was issued release papers with a future court date.

Bail Violations

A 38 year old male who was arrested and released for a domestic assault on January 24th was arrested again for breaching his release conditions.  After his release on the 25th, the accused attended the victim’s residence despite being on conditions to the contrary.  He fled the area when police were contacted.  He turned himself in to police last night and has been held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

January 24 – 25, 2021 News Release

Domestic Assault

A 38 year old male was charged with assaulting his girlfriend on January 24th.   Police were called to a downtown residence around 1230 PM.  The two engaged in a heated argument and the male had grabbed his partner by the throat causing minor injuries.  The male was arrested without incident and released from custody with a future court date. 

Assault

A 32 year old male was charged with assault after he slapped a 67 year old female in the head.  The male was arrested on January 24th at 1:30 PM after police investigated the complaint.  The male had confronted the female who was walking her dog on Laurier Blvd.  The male accused the female of letting her dog urinate on his shoe.  The argument led to the assault and police were contacted.  The male was arrested and released with a future court date.
