March 11 – 12, 2021 News Release

Stolen Vehicle

On March 11th at 10:13 AM the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a stolen vehicle.  The 1993 black Dodge Ram was taken from a business on Bartholomew Street sometime the previous night.  That vehicle was then located by the Ontario Provincial Police in Kemptville on the same day.  The officers were able to box the vehicle in and arrest the lone male occupant.   A search incident to his arrest led to an additional charge of being in possession of a prohibited weapon as officers located a homemade stun gun.  He was turned over to our service and is currently in custody waiting on a bail hearing.  The 24 year old Brockville resident is being charged with 1) possession of B&E instruments 2) 3 x failing to comply with probation 3) possession of property obtained by crime 4) possession of a prohibited weapon and 5) operation of a conveyance while prohibited.

March 8 – 10, 2021 News Release

Arrest on Warrants:

  • On March 9th at 8:14 AM a 20 year old female was arrested by Brockville Police when she was observed operating a vehicle on Stewart Blvd. The driver was identified by the officer who received information that she was wanted by the Ontario Provincial Police on a bench warrant for failing to attend court.  She was turned over to the OPP.
  • On March 9th at 4:00 PM officers located and arrested a 35 year old male on William St. That male was wanted by the Ontario Provincial Police on a warrant.  A search incident to arrest led to further charges of being in possession of a controlled substance.    He was charged by our service for the possession of the controlled substance (methamphetamine) and turned over to the OPP for their warrant.
  • On March 9th at 5:30 PM a 57 year old male surrendered himself to the Brockville Police as a warrant had been issued for his arrest for failing to attend court. He was issued a new court date and released.
  • On March 8th at 2:07 PM a 28 year old male was arrested on Perth Street for his warrant for failing to attend court. The male was arrested and released with a new court date.
  • On March 8th at 3:00 PM a 33 year old male surrendered to police for his warrant for failing to comply with a release order. He was charged and released with a new court date. 

Missing Person Rebecca Neilson Update

Missing Person Rebecca Neilson

The missing person’s case of Rebecca Neilson is now a coroner’s investigation. 

On Sunday March 7th, community members banded together and organized a search of the area she was last known to have been.  Searchers located a deceased person shortly into their search.  The Brockville Police can confirm that the deceased subject was Rebecca Neilson.  The case has been turned over to the coroner’s office for a post mortem. 

On behalf of the Brockville Police Service I would like to offer my condolences to Rebecca’s family and friends for their loss.

March 5 – 8, 2021 News Release

Warrants

On March 7th at 1:55 PM officers on routine patrol on Buell St. observed a 29 year old male that was wanted on a bench warrant for failing to appear for court.  He was arrested without incident and issued a new court date.

Bail Violations

On March 8th at 2:06 AM a 33 year old male was arrested for failing to comply with a bail condition.  The male had failed to report to his bail supervision program as he was required.  The male was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.

Breach of Probation

On March 6th at 11:09 AM a 45 year old male was arrested for breach of probation after he was located in an intoxicated state on Charles Street.  He was held in custody until sober and released with a new court date. 

At 4:44 AM on March 7th the same male was arrested for theft and breach of probation.  The male was arrested after a complaint of shoplifting from the Quickie on William Street.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Warrants

On March 5th at 3:00 PM a 29 year old male turned himself in to police for his bench warrant for failing to attend court.  He was charged and released from custody with a future court date.

 

March 4 – 5, 2021 News Release

Breach of Probation

On March 4th, 2021 at 11:37 AM officers were called to a Charles Street address for an unwanted guest.  A 45 year old male was at the residence in an intoxicated state.  The male was on a probation order not to be at the residence unless the owner had given him consent.  That consent could be revoked at any time.  The complainant had provided consent, but due to the male’s behaviour he called police wishing to revoke his consent and have the male removed.  The male was arrested and held in custody until sober.  He was later released unconditionally.

Domestic

On the 4th of March 2021 at 2:20 PM officers responded to domestic dispute at a residence in the center of the city.  A 33 year old male was arrested for assault, assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm all on a 24 year old female victim.   The male was released from custody with a future court date.

Theft

On the 4th of March at 6:50 PM police were called to Dollarama on Parkedale Ave. for a shoplifting complaint.  The staff at the store provided a description of the suspect who was located hiding behind a dumpster. A 37 year old female was arrested for theft and also charged with breaching a probation order.  She was released from custody with a future court date.

Theft

On the 4th of March 2021 at 7:58 PM officers were called to Walmart for reports of a male suspect leaving the store with a cart load of merchandise.  A 50 year old male was arrested by police and charged with theft and breach of probation.

March 2 – 3, 2021 News Release

Pursuit

On March 2nd at 8:43 PM Brockville Police were contacted by “On Star” indicating that a stolen vehicle from Kingston was currently in Brockville.  “On Star” provided police with the vehicle’s location on Windsor Drive near Parkedale Ave.  Officers located the vehicle that was occupied by a young male driver and a female passenger.  Officers attempted to block the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop.  The vehicle sped away from police heading west bound on Parkedale Avenue, failing to stop at the traffic signals.  Due to the risk to the public, officers discontinued the pursuit. 

The vehicle was observed ramping on to Highway 401.  The Ontario Provincial Police were notified and “On Star” was patched over to their dispatch.  The OPP picked up the vehicle which was then remotely disabled by “On Star”.  A 14 year old suspect was taken into custody by the OPP.

February 28 – March 1, 2021 News Release

Warrants

On February 28, 2021 at 3:40 PM on officer on routine patrol in the area of King St. W. and Buell St. observed a male that was wanted for several criminal occurrences.  The officer arrested the 33 year old male without incident.  He was wanted for several thefts and fraud occurrences.  The male was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Impaired/refusal

On February 28th at 11:18 PM a 36 year old male was stopped for erratic driving on King Street West.  The vehicle had been observed fish tailing as it travelled down the highway.  The officer conducted a traffic stop and detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver.  The officer made a roadside demand for a sample of his breath.  The driver refused to provide the sample so he was charged accordingly with failing to provide a sample.  His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 7 days.  He will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge. 

Bail Violations

On February 27th at 7:23 PM police responded to a complaint for a disturbance at a residence on Brighton Cres.  Officers attend the residence a located the parties involved.  A 40 year old female was arrested as a result as she was on bail conditions not to communicate with a person that was present at the residence.  She was charged and released with a future court date.

Suspicious Person

On the 26th of February 2021 at 8:00 AM officers were called to the area of Church Street for a suspicious male who was described a eating a pencil and threatening people in the area. Officers located the 25 year old male and completed an investigation.  The male was charged with assault and failing to comply with probation.   The suspect had been involved in an altercation with a victim at the scene and was charged as a result.  He was released from police custody with a future court date.

Impaired Operation

A 25 year old male has been charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and drive with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol.  Officers were called to Court House Ave for a disturbance on the 26th of February at 10:54 PM.  A vehicle was stopped in the area and officers arrested the driver for impaired operation.  The driver subsequently failed a breath test and was charged accordingly.  He will appear in court at a later date.

Disturb the Peace

On the 27th of February at 1:02 AM officers responded to reports of a fight on King Street at John Street.  A 51 year old male was charged with threats and assault on a 55 year old male.  The two had been in an argument that became physical.  The accused was charged and released with a future court date.

Motor Vehicle Collision

A 27 year old male was charged with failing to stop at a red light after police responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Parkedale and Stewart Blvd.  The sudden and heavy snow fall led to several accidents until the roads were cleared.  The collision caused the traffic signals to malfunction resulting in traffic delays. There were not of any injuries reported.

February 25 – 26, 2021 News Release

Warrants

On the 25th of February 2021 at 3:00 PM a 22 year old male was observed on Court House Avenue.  The officers had prior knowledge that this male had outstanding warrants for his arrest. The male attempted to flee on foot, but after a short foot pursuit and the assistance of a citizen he was arrested.  The male was held in custody for a bail hearing.

February 22, 2021 News Release

Theft

On the 22nd of February 2021 at 3:40 AM officers responded to an alarm at 26 Front Ave. West, the Hydro One lot.  Officers discovered that someone had entered the compound, but it is uncertain at this time if anything is missing.  Anyone with any information in relation to this occurrence is asked to contact the Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

February 18 – 19, 2021 News Release

Drugs/traffic enforcement

On February 18th at 12:40 PM officers conducted a traffic stop on Stewart Blvd.  The driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of unstamped tobacco and methamphetamine.  He was arrested and charged with being in possession of a controlled substance and possession of unmarked cigarettes.  He will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

Bail violations

On the 19th of February at 20 minutes after midnight an officer on routine patrol located two subjects on Bartholomew Street.  A 22 year old female was arrested for breaching her release order by being with a 49 year old male that she was prohibited from associating with.  She was arrested without incident and held in custody for a bail hearing.
