Motor Vehicle Accident

A 39 year old Brockville resident was charged with failing to report an accident under the Highway Traffic Act after her motor vehicle collided with a business on Batholomew Street on Sunday. The driver left the scene but also left pieces of her car behind that identified it. The impact on the building caused plumbing to rupture and pour water into the building. The estimate for damages was not available as of yet. No injuries were reported in the accident.

Mental Health Assistance

A 57 year old Brockville man was apprehended under the Mental Health Act on Sunday after police received reports of a man in need of assistance. This was the 3rd Call for assistance that Brockville Police have been involved with this subject over the last 3 days. The Mental Health Act empowers police to apprehend persons in need of care and transport them to the nearest hospital for their protection. No one was injured in the incident.

Just before 9 pm on Saturday evening Brockville Police responded to a holdup alarm at the Mac’s Milk on King St West in Brockville. An identified male entered the store and shortly thereafter approached the counter, produced a handgun and demanded cash. The lone male then fled the store on foot headed westbound.

A white SUV was observed shortly after the robbery driving the wrong way on Gilmour Street (southbound) and turn right and head westbound on King Street. At this time it is unknown whether this vehicle is connected to this incident.

Leeds County OPP was advised of the robbery and assisted Brockville Police by searching the King St W/Highway 2 West corridor for suspects. The Brockville Police Forensic Unit attended and processed the store for Identification purposes and able to obtain from Mac’s Security, surveillance photos of the suspect.

The suspect is described as male with a white complexion, 25-30 years of age, facial hair, dark eyes, slim build, dark coat and plaid scarf.

Robbery

At 8:55 pm on Saturday, police responded to a hold up alarm at Mac’s Milk located on King St. West. An unknown male had entered the store and produced a handgun demanding cash. The clerk complied with his demands and the male left the store on foot. The suspect is described as male with a white complexion, 25-30 years of age, facial hair, dark eyes, slim build, dark coat and plaid scarf. Drug Offences

As a result of a traffic stop on Parkedale Avenue police detected the odour of marijuana from the vehicle and occupants. As a result of the traffic stop one of the occupants, a 20 year old male, was charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana. He has been released with a future court date.

Assault

A fight between neighbours led to an assault charge against a 57 year male. He has been released with a future court date.

Missing and Suicidal Female Youth Located

On the 25th of January, 2017 at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Brockville Police Service received a report of a missing 15 year old female who was potentially suicidal. She was reported missing by her family after not returning home from school. The family had also received messages from her advising of her desires to commit suicide. Social media posts were sent out asking for public assistance to locate the female. She returned home shortly after. Officers then spoke to the female, apprehended her and escorted her to BGH for assessment. She was then transported to KGH for her youth mental health assessment.

Male Arrested in Domestic Incident

On the 25th of January, 2017 at approximatly 6:30 p.m., the Brockville Police Service received a complaint from a female reporting her ex-boyfriend had called and threatened to damage her residence. At the time of her call she believed that the male was in the area of her residence. Further investigation revealed that the 28 year old, local male was on probation for previous convictions of criminal harassment and uttering threats to the female complainant. As a result , the suspect was contacted and agreed to turn himself in to police. At that time he was arrested and held for bail on charges of Uttering Threats, Criminal Harassment and Breaching his Probation Order.

Shoplifting:

On the 26th of January, 2017 at approximately 6:30p.m., the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of two, 20 year old females had been arrested by loss prevention at a north end department store. Officers attended and continued the arrest of the two females. The value of the theft between the females totaled approximately $100.00 and as a result the females were released and issued charges under the Trespass to Property Act.

Domestic Related Criminal Harassment

On the 24th of January, 2017 the Brockville Police Service arrested a 31 year old male, from a neighbouring community, in regards to ongoing criminal harassment on his ex-girlfriend. The male was interviewed and released by police with conditions and a future court date.

Racial / Obscene Graffiti

On the 24th of January, 2017 the Brockville Police Service received a complaint from J.L. Jordan Catholic School in regards to Graffiti. There have been multiple recent incidents of racial and obscene graffiti reported at the above mentioned school and others within the area. Incidents believed to be taking place in the evening or overnight hours. We ask the public to notify the Brockville Police Service with any information.

On both the 23rd and 24th of January, 2017, the Brockville Police Service received reports of mischief to the playground area of the JL Jordan Public School located at 294 First Avenue, Brockville. Staff discovered graffiti, and broken glass.

On the 23rd of January, 2017 at approximately 4:22 a.m. the Brockville Police Service received a 911 no voice contact (the caller does not answer when prompted by police) from a Brockville residence. Police attended the address, gained entry and discovered an elderly woman had fallen and was in need of medical attention. EMS was requested and did attend. The woman was transported to the Brockville General Hospital for necessary evaluation and treatment. Police are not aware of the extent of injuries sustained by the woman as a result of her fall.

Brockville Police responded to a call of a fire that had been deliberately set to the door of an apartment unit located on King St West in the downtown area. The occupant was able to extinguish the fire prior to arrival with the use of water and towels. Damage was categorized as minor.   The service is asking that anyone with information in relation to this arson please call the service at 613 342 0127 ext 0.

On early Saturday (Jan 21) morning just after midnight, Brockville Police Service stopped a 2002 Blue 2 door Honda Civic for a traffic violation in the vicinity of King Street East. As the officer walked up to speak to the male driver, the vehicle fled off at an extremely high rate of speed that would be considered dangerous to the public. No pursuit was initiated in the interest of public safety.

The vehicle is described to have winter tires on black steel winter rims with silver lug nuts, a very large resonator on the rear passenger side and with no window tint. Police have initiated an investigation to determine the identity of the male driver and it’s lone male passenger. Both males are described to be in their early twenties.

Mental Health Apprehension

Brockville Police responded to what was originally called in as a domestic dispute in the north end of the city at 7 am yesterday morning. A male was complaining of being assaulted by his wife. During the investigation it was apparent that the 50 year old woman was suffering from a mental illness and for her safety and her husbands she was apprehended and conveyed to the hospital for pyschiatric assessment. No one was injured in the dispute.

Mental Health Apprehension

A 40 year old female who called into the Brockville Police communications center and began to speak of moments of extreme paranoia caused a police dispatcher to make what turned out to be the right callwhen she deployed officers to her residence even though she insisted that she wished no officer presence. Officers performed a cursory investigation and had to apprehend her for her safety. She was taken to the Brockville General Hospital where she was evaluated.

Drug Possession and Breach Charges

Police had conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle in the evening hours. During that investigation the passenger was recognized by officers and was out on release conditions with one of them being not to consume alcohol. He had been drinking and was arrested for violating his undertaking. During the arrest he was searched and found to be in possession of cocaine. He was charged and released with a future court date for the allegations.
