April 28, 2020 News Release

Warrants

On April 28th 2020 the Brockville Police located a 31 year old male wanted on a warrant issued by Kingston Police.  In addition to the Kingston charges, the accused was charged with multiple breaches by the Brockville Police.  He was held for a bail hearing.

 

Fire

On the evening of the April 28th 2020 the Brockville Police assisted the Fire Department with a fire at the coin laundry at 125 Stewart Blvd.  There were no injuries.  It was not suspicious in nature.

April 27 – 28, 2020 News Release

Mischief

On the morning of April 27th 2020 the Brockville Police received a call from City Taxi of a 26 year old male who was using drugs and refusing to leave a cab in the downtown area.  Upon police arrival the male refused to identify himself and he was arrested under the Trespass to Property Act.  He was released once identified and charged.

Five hours later police received a second call about the same male.  It was learned there had been a previous incident to the original call.  The male had attended a downtown apartment, brandished a knife after forcing his way inside and left with property belonging to the tenant.  While at this address a couch was set on fire.  The 26 year old male now faces additional criminal charges of robbery, arson, and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Traffic

A water main broke at the intersection of Stewart Blvd and Parkedale Ave.  The lanes are reduced at the intersection as city crews work to fix the problem.  As well Parkedale Ave. is closed westbound from Windsor Dr. to Stewart Blvd.

April 26 – 27, 2020 News Release

Assault

On April 27th 2020 at 03:05 am the Brockville Police Service received a call of a break and enter in the north end of town.  Police learned an 18 year old male and 21 year old male had attended the residence, forced their way in and assaulted a tenant.  The both accused turned themselves into police. They were charged with forcible entry and assault.  The accused and the victim did know each other.

 

Breach of conditions

On April 26th 2020 just before midnight the Brockville Police were called to an address in the north end.  The complainant contacted police alleging her former husband had assaulted her.  Police learned the accused had attended the address to pick up some property.  There was a dispute over some of the property to be picked up.  As a result a 42 year old man from Brockville is wanted for breach of his conditions.

 

Breach of conditions

On the afternoon of April 26th 2020 the Brockville Police began investigating a breach of bail conditions.  As a result a 47 year old female was arrested and held for bail for attending an address she was not supposed to be at in the north end of Brockville.  Police were already looking to arrest her for committing the same breach of condition last week.

April 21 – 22, 2020 News Release

Assault

On the 21st of April 2020 at 8:50 p.m. a 27 year old male attend the police service reporting being assaulted while at Blockhouse Island.  The victim stated that he was sitting in his vehicle when the suspect pulled him from the car and assaulted him.  The suspect and the victim are known to each other.  The investigation led to the arrest of a local 19 year old male.  He was charged with assault and released from custody with a future court date.

 

Public Intoxication

On the 22nd of April 2020 at 4:00 a.m. police were called to disturbance in the city’s north end.  A 51 year old male was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.  He was held in custody until sober and released with a $55 fine.

 

Domestic Dispute

On the 20th of April 2020 at 2:25 p.m. officers were called to a downtown residence for a domestic dispute.  The dispute became heated and led the 36 year old female assaulting the 36 year old male.  The female was charged with assault and mischief.

April 20, 2020 News Release

Sudden Death

The Brockville Police Service is currently investigating a sudden death in the area of the rail tracks at William Street.  The incident was reported on April 20, 2020 at 4:13 a.m.  The investigation is not considered criminal and is being conducted in conjunction with the coroner’s office.  No further details will be released out of respect for the deceased and family members. 

April 17 – 18, 2020 News Release

Drug Offences

On April 17th, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. officers on routine patrol located a 50 year old male walking on King St. West.  The male, who was known to the officers, was wanted for assault from an investigation on the 31st of March 2020.  In that incident this male had actually been stabbed in the hand and was initially seen as the victim.  Two males had been charged in relation to that stabbing.  Upon the officer completing their investigation it was determined that this victim would also be charged with assault. 

He was arrested for that occurrence and searched incident to arrest.  On his person officers located two a quantity of crystal methamphetamine.  He has been charged with assault from the original incident and possession of a controlled substance.

 

Drug Offences

On April 18th, 2020 at 2:00 a.m. officers conducted a routine traffic stop off of Pearl Street.  The vehicle was occupied by a 54 year old male and a 46 year old female.  As a result of that traffic stop officers located a quantity of crack cocaine and methamphetamine.  They were arrested and charged with being in possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking.  They were held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Impaired

On April 18th, 2020 at 10:50 a.m. the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of an impaired driver on Parkedale Ave.  Officers located the vehicle a short distance away. The 21 year old driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving.  The male provided a breath sample of more than double the legal limit.  His vehicle has been impounded for 7 days and his licence suspended for 90 days.  He will appear in court at a later date charged with impaired operation of a conveyance.

 

April 14 – 15, 2020 News Release

Weapons

On the 14th of April 2020 at 1:14 p.m. police responded to reports of a male waiving a knife around in the area of King St. West and Buell St.  The male was outside of a store causing the complainant to fear that it was going to be robbed.  The male was located a short distance away.  It is unknown why the male was waiving the knife around, but appeared to be under the influence of some substances  The 36 year old male was arrested and charged with 1) Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (from a previous incident) as well as 2) weapons dangerous and 3) fail to comply with probation.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

April 10 – 12, 2020 News Release

Break and Enter

On April 12th 2020 at 6:30 a.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to an alarm at the Keystorm Pub on Courthouse Ave. On the officer’s arrival they discovered that a break and enter had occurred.  Suspects have not been identified at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

Disturbance

On April 12th 2020 at 6:30 a.m. while officers were dealing with the break and enter to the Keystorm Pub they could hear a loud argument taking place in the area.  Officers located a 15 year old female and a 22 year old male as the parties’ involved. 

Both subjects were wanted in relation to a break and enter that had occurred on the 11th.  They were arrested in relation to that occurrence.  The male was held in custody for a bail hearing.  The female was released with a future court date.

Stolen Vehicle

On the 12th of April 2020 at 6:30 p.m. a 2006 Acura CSX blue, plate BZCA 527, was taken from the parking lot to Pizza Hut when the driver entered the store.  The vehicle was left with the keys in the vehicle.  It has not been recovered at this time.

Arrest

On the 11th of April 2020 at 11:00 p.m. officers responded to a downtown address for a male out of control.  Officers located a 20 year old male that had caused damage to his family’s residence.  When the officers arrived at the residence the male was in a crisis state.  He was unclothed and running around the outside of the residence.  Officers had to deploy a conducted energy weapon in order to safely gain control of the male.  He was taken to the Brockville General Hospital for an assessment.

Drugs

On the 10th of April 2020 at 10 minutes after midnight officers conducted a traffic stop after the vehicle had failed to stop at a red light on Stewart Blvd.  The vehicle was being operated by a 51 year old male with a 37 year old female passenger.  The male was arrested for breaching his conditional sentence.  A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a quantity of crystal methamphetamine and crack cocaine.  The female was also arrested for being in possession of the drugs.  The male was held in custody for a bail hearing charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and driving while under suspension.  The female was charged with being in possession of a controlled substance and released with a future court date.

April 8 – 9, 2020 News Release

Fire

On the 8th of April 2020 at 9:24 p.m. the Brockville Fire Department along with the Brockville Police Service responded to a structure fire at 8 Kincaid St. in the city’s south end.  The residence was unoccupied and the fire is considered suspicious.  Any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the fire are asked to call Det/Sgt. Bennett at 613-342-0127 ext. 4221 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

 

Break and Enter

On the 8th of April 2020 at 10:40 a.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to reports of a male breaking into a shed at near the Brockville Library.  The male fled the area prior to police arrival.  Through investigation he was identified, located and arrested for Break and Enter, possession of break-in tools, possession of ammunition and failing to comply with probation.  The 21 year old male was held in custody for a bail hearing.

April 6 – 7, 2020 News Release

Breach of Probation

On the 6th of April 2020 at 5:10 p.m. a 51 year old male was arrested and charged with breaching his probation order.  The male was observed driving his vehicle following and harassing the complainant in violation of his conditions.  

Prohibited Driving

On the 6th of April 2020 at 11:00 p.m. officers on routine patrol conducted a traffic stop on North Augusta Road.  The driver, a 38 year old local male, was prohibited from driving.  The male also had a warrant for his arrest for failing to attend court.  He was arrested and charged with prohibited driving, having an open container of liquor while driving and using plates not authorized on a vehicle.
