March 19 – 20, 2020 News Release

Stolen Vehicle:

On the 19th of March at 8:00 am, the Brockville Police Service responded to a theft complaint of a tow truck from Downey St.   The vehicle was taken sometime overnight and later recovered on County Road 15 by the Ontario Provincial Police.  The vehicle was found unoccupied.  No suspects have been identified at this time.  The matter is still being investigated.

 

Break and Enter:

On the 19th of March 2020 at 6:20 pm, the Brockville Police Service responded to reports of a “break and enter.”  The homeowner discovered the male in the garage of his home and contacted police.  The 33 year old suspect was located a short distance away by responding officers.  Tyler Edwards has been charged with “break and enter”, theft and failing to comply with probation.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

March 17 – 28, 2020 News Release

Break and Enter:

On March 17th at 9:00 p.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to an Apple St. residence for a B&E call.  The complainant had discovered the 33 year old male in their residence going through their belongings.  The complainant confronted the male and he left the residence.  The male was identified and later located by officers.  He has been charged with Break and Enter.

COVID-19 Pandemic Brockville Police Service Measures

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic we want to ensure that the public and our staff are safe.  As a result we have had to implement some temporary measures in order to facilitate a safe work environment and a safe community. 

  • The Brockville Police will be responding to emergency calls for service, however, measures have been put in place to allow some non-emergency calls to be handled over the telephone. 
  • The Brockville Police Facility will be closed to the general public, however, those who attend can speak with dispatch staff via intercom.
  • Fingerprints will be rescheduled.
  • Persons coming into contact with police may be asked some simple screening questions.

As indicated, these are temporary measures and are subject to change at any time.  We want to thank everyone for their patience at this time.

March 16 – 17, 2020 News Release

Shoplifting

On March 16th, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to Walmart on Parkedale Ave. for a shoplifting complaint.  The loss prevention officer had observed a 36 year old female committing the theft and arrested her when she left the store.  The responding officers continued the arrest as she was also wanted for failing to attend court.  She was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Impaired

On March 16th, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a possible impaired driver.  Officers located and arrested a 61 year old local male for impaired operation of a conveyance.  He was charged and issued a future court date.  The male is also subject to an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and a 7 day vehicle impound.

 

Warrant:

On March 16th at 5:30 p.m. a 56 year old male was observed by officers at the Real Canadian Superstore.  The male was known to the officers who had information that a probation warrant had been issued for his arrest.  The male was arrested without incident and issued a new court date to answer to the charge.

 

Robbery:

On March 17th, 2020 at 5:15 a.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to 250 King St. West “Circle K” convenience store for a robbery.  A lone male entered the store, brandished a weapon and demanded money.  The store clerk was not physically harmed.  The suspect is described as male white; 5’10 stocky build dressed in black had his face covered. March 13 – 15, 2020 News Release

Shoplifting

On March 13th at 3:40 p.m. a 33 year old female was arrested at the Superstore for shoplifting.  Police were contacted after the loss prevention officer observed the female committing the theft.  Officers discovered that the female had also breached her court order condition to sign in to the police service.  She was held in custody pending a bail hearing being charged with theft under $5000 and breach of a recognizance of bail.

 

Threats

A 34 year old male is facing charges of uttering a threat resulting from a domestic dispute in the city’s north end on the 14th of March at 2:00 p.m.  Police were dispatched to the area for the complaint and as a result of the investigation the male was arrested and charged with threats.  He was released from custody with a future court date.

 

Alarm

On the 14th of March 2020 at 9:00 p.m. police and paramedics responded to “fall” alarm at north end residence.   This alarm is a personal alarm that goes off when the patient falls.  Officers forced their way in to the residence and located a 70 year old male that needed assistance.  Paramedics treated the male and transported him to the Brockville General Hospital for treatment.

 

Disturb the Peace

Police responded to a disturbance on King St. East at 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning.  Upon their arrival, several parties decided to engage in a consensual fight in front of the officers.  The parties were separated and most left, except one 39 year old male that decided to continue despite attempts to send him home with friends.  He was arrested and held in custody until sober.  He was later issued a $55 fine for being intoxicated in a public place.

 

 Community Service

On the 15th of March at 2:50 a.m. officers on routine patrol located an 83 year old female sitting on the sidewalk.  The female appeared very confused and not dressed for the weather.  Paramedics were dispatched to the scene and she was transported to the hospital for treatment.

 

Break and Enter Suspect

On the 15th of March 2020 at 3:00 a.m. officers responded to an alarm at 115 Broome Road “Wally Wash”.  Police discovered that a suspect or suspects had attempted to gain entry to the premise which triggered the alarm.  CCTV captured an image of a suspect that we are asking the public’s assistance in identifying.

March 10 – 12, 2020 News Release

Shoplifting

On the 10th of March 2020 at 8:30 p.m. police were called to Walmart in response to a 22 year old male that was arrested for shoplifting.  The male was apprehended by the loss prevention officer when he was observed selecting approximately $100 worth of merchandise and then left the store without any attempt to pay.  He was charged and issued an appearance notice with a later court date.

Domestic

On the 11th of March 2020 at 4:00 a.m. police were dispatched to a north end residence for a domestic disturbance.  As a result of the call a 42 year old male was arrested for assault on his spouse.  He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Domestic

On the 9th of March 2020 at 5:30 p.m. officers responded to a domestic incident in the city’s south end.   A 24 year old female and a 29 year old male were both jointly charged with assault.  Both parties were released on conditions with a future court date.

Mischief

On the 11th of March 2020 at 8:00 a.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to a complaint of a 21 year old male causing damage to a Church St. address. The male was located and arrested for mischief.  He was also on a probation order at the time of his arrest and was charged with failing to comply with that order.

Unlawfully at Large/Drugs

On the 12th of March 2020 at 3:00 a.m. officers from the Brockville Police Service observed vehicle being operated on William St.  The vehicle was dragging its exhaust causing sparks as it traveled on the highway.  The vehicle was stopped and a passenger was identified as a 34 year old local male.  That male had failed to attend for his intermittent sentence and a warrant was issued for his arrest.  Officers then attempted to arrest the male; he struck the officer and fled on foot.  He was arrested during that foot pursuit.  Police located a large quantity of crack cocaine on the male along with other drug paraphernalia.  He has been charged with being unlawfully at large, breach of probation and possession of a controlled substance. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing today.

 

March 6 – 8, 2020 News Release

Break and Enter:

On Sunday March 8th, 2020 police were dispatched to an address on Chislett Street as the home owner had discovered that the locks on his shed had been cut and several tools were missing.  The incident occurred over the past two weeks.  There are not any suspects at this time.

 

Fraud:

 A 39 year old female was arrested on the strength of our warrant in Gananoque on March 8th at 4:30 p.m.  The female was wanted in relation to a fraud complaint.  The fraud was with an Ontario Works assistance and employment benefits scam.  She had failed to declare income while continuing to collect benefits over a four year time span. She is accused of collecting close to $20,000 in benefits illegally.   She was charged and released with a future court date.

 

Impaired by Drug:

On the 6th of March 2020 at 9:00 p.m. officers on routine patrol observed a vehicle being operated on Keefer St. East without its headlights on.  The vehicle was stopped and the 52 year old driver was found to be under the influence of a drug.  He was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a conveyance.  He licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 7 days.

March 4 – 5, 2020 News Release

Theft:

A 33 year old female was arrested on Thursday the 5th of March at 12:30 p.m. for shoplifting.  She was observed by staff at The Score selecting items, concealing them and leaving without any attempt to pay.  She was detained by staff and turned over to police who charged her accordingly.

 

Public Intoxication:

On March 5th, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. a 38 year old female was arrested outside of the Brockville General Hospital for being intoxicated in a public place.  She was charged and turned over to family members. 

 

Suspicious Person:

On the 4th of March 2020 at 12:50 p.m. the Brockville Police Service was contacted in relation to a suspicious person.  The complainant contacted the service to report that a male had been sleeping in the vestibule of a downtown business on King St. West.  Security footage was viewed and the male was identified as a local 21 year old male.  He was observed on camera being in possession of brass knuckles and a small black handgun.  That male was later located and arrested without incident.  The handgun was determined to be an air pistol.  The male has been charged with being in possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles).  He has been released with a future court date.

March 3 – 4, 2020 News Release

Bail Violations:

On the 3rd of March 2020 at 5:30 p.m. a 45 year old male attended the Brockville Police Service to turn himself in on an outstanding warrant for breaching a bail condition.  He was released from custody with a future court date.

 

 Public Intoxication:

On the 3rd of March 2020 at 6:20 p.m. a 44 year old male was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.  The male was arrested on Charles St. after police received 3 separate complaints about the male.  He was held in custody and released when sober with a $55 fine.

 

Public Intoxication:

On the 3rd of March at 11:20 p.m. police were dispatched to King St. West for reports of an intoxicated male sitting in a snow bank.  The 57 year old male was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. He was held in custody until sober and released with a $55 fine.

 

February 28 – March 1, 2020 News Release

Bail violations:

On the 1st of March 2020 at 3:00 p.m. police were contacted about a breach of a bail condition.  The 26 year old male suspect had been contacting another male contrary to his conditions.  He was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Break and Enter:

A 30 year old male has been arrested and charged with break and enter, possession of B&E tools, theft, possession of a controlled substance and breach of probation.   Officer received the complaint on the 1st of March 2020 at 3:30 p.m.  The witness had discovered a male in a storage shed at 1109 Millwood Ave, when confronted the male left the area.  The complainant attended the service to report the incident.  When he returned home he spotted the suspect. He followed the male to a store and contacted police.  Officers located the male at the store and arrested him for the break and enter.  As they were arresting the male he was found to be in possession of merchandise from the store that he had failed to pay for and a quantity of fentanyl.    He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Drug Offences:

A 33 year old Brockville male was arrested on the 28th of February at 9:41 a.m. for a warrant from Ottawa.  The male was arrested when officer’s spotted the male in the back of a cab being operated on Stewart Blvd.  The male was searched incident to arrest and officers located a quantity of cocaine, hashish and crystal methamphetamine.  He was charged for being in possession of a controlled substance and released with a future court date.

 

Impaired:

On the 29th of February 2020 at 12:21 a.m. officers responded to a vehicle that had driven off of the highway on Laurier Blvd.  Officers detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver and he subsequently failed a roadside test.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Brockville Police Service where he provided two sample of breath to a qualified technician of nearly double the legal limit.  He was charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol.   His vehicle was impounded for 7 days and his licence suspended for 90 days.

 

Search Warrant:

On the 28th of February 2020 at 4:30 a.m. officers conducted a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act at 69 King St. East.  A 44 year old female was arrested and charged with two counts of being in possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of breaching her probation.  She was released with a future court date.

 

Stolen Vehicle:

The Brockville Police Service is currently investigating the theft of a stolen vehicle.  The vehicle was taken from St. Lawrence College sometime after 4:00 a.m. today.  The truck is operated by “Blade Runner” and is a red Ford F-350 with a 9 foot split plow.

At 2:30 p.m. officer located the vehicle along with a 23 year old suspect on Bartholomew St. He is currently in our custody facing charges.  The plow for the truck is still outstanding. Please contact the Brockville Police Service with any information regarding the plow.
