March 31 – April 1, 2017 Incident

Stolen Vehicle

On the 31st of March, 2017 at 8:20 a.m., the Brockville Police Service received a report of a stolen motor vehicle from a north end residence in the City.

The vehicle was recovered shortly after the report by the O.P.P. a couple kilometers ast of Brockville. The vehicle was recovered with no apparent damage. The vehicle was towed to a secure location where the vehicle was processed for suspect identification. There are no suspects at this time, however, the investigation is continuing. This is a good time to remind residents of Brockville to ensure that they make every effort to secure their vehicles and property.

 

Family Dispute / Assault Cause Bodily Harm

On the 1st of April, 2017 at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Brockville Police Service received a report of a family dispute taking place in the Central area of the City.

Investigation revealed that a 26 year old, local male, had seriously assaulted his mother during a heated argument. Eventually the victim was able to remove herself from the suspect and fled the scene to a neighbours residence to seek assistance. Officers arrived on scene and determined that the serious injuries were suffered from the physical altercation. The female victim was transported to the Brockville General Hospital, where she has been admitted due to the severity of her injuries. The male suspect was arrested and held for a bail hearing for the offences of assault cause bodily harm, forcible confinement and uttering threats to cause death.

 

Missing Youth – Lexi Kundlacz

Missing Female Youth

On the 1st of April, 2017 at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Brockville Police Service received a report of a missing female youth. 15 year old, Lexi Kundlacz, believed to last have been seen walking away from her residence at approximately 8:30a.m. this morning. Last observed wearing a dark blue spring jacket with light blue trim, jeans, and running shoes. She has shoulder length dark brown hair now and is approximately 5’10”, 150lbs with blue eyes. At this time Lexi does not have any medical concerns, however, if anyone has information in regards to her whereabouts, please notify the Brockville Police Service to ensure that this youth is returned home safely.

 

March 30 – 31, 2017 Incidents

Domestic Arrest

A 43 year old Brockville man is facing charges of Mischief Under $5000 as a result of a domestic incident yesterday afternoon.

Brockville Police attended to a MacOdrum Drive apartment building late yesterday afternoon after a call from the victim saying she had just had an argument with her ex-boyfriend who had been drinking and flipped over a table and smashed a television inside her apartment. He had since left the apartment and was going to his residence in downtown Brockville.

Officers were able to locate the accused a short time later and he was arrested for Mischief under $5000 and released from custody with several conditions and given a future court date.

 

Theft of Glasses

Two suspects are being sought in connection with a theft of some expensive eyewear from Laurier Optical yesterday.

At approximately 3:30 pm yesterday afternoon a male and a female suspect entered the store and selected some expensive glasses, and tried several pairs on before leaving. Staff then discovered expensive eyewear was now missing and contacted police.

The male is described as tall, slender build, wearing a dark toque, black sweater and jeans. The female suspect is described as being short, blonde hair, wearing a long black jacket, and blue jeans.

Busy 24 hours

From 7am Thursday morning to 7am Friday morning the Brockville Police responded to 39 calls for service.

Calls included:

  • 3 calls for service to assist under the Mental Health Act of which 2 persons were referred to a community agency and one apprehension
  • 4 calls for Community Services incidents to assist other agencies
  • 2 calls of Disturbing the Peace
  • 4 Traffic related incidents which included 1 motor vehicle collision
  • 2 theft complaints
  • 1 Fraud

As well there were 2 arrests during this period resulting in Criminal Code charges.

 

March 29 – 30, 2017 Incidents

Breach of Bail Conditions

A 20 year old Brockville man was arrested early this morning following a number of domestic related complaints received since Sunday afternoon.

This morning shortly before 1 am Brockville Police received a 911 from a female victim who stated she was at the uptown Quickie and then the line disconnected. Officers then checked both the Ormond Street and Kensington plaza locations for the caller and were unsuccessful in locating her. They continued their search for her eventually locating her vehicle at a north end apartment building she and her boyfriend had been known to frequent. Officers attended inside the building and located the female victim and the 20 year old accused inside the apartment where he was arrested for breaching his bail conditions from his release on Sunday March 26th when he was arrested for domestic assault on the same female.

During that incident, the couple became involved in a verbal argument at the female’s apartment that turned physical resulting in the female victim receiving minor cuts.

As a result the man was conveyed to Brockville Police headquarters where he is held in custody pending a bail hearing on Thursday afternoon.

 

Domestic Arrest

A 24 year old Brockville man was arrested last evening as a result of a domestic investigation which began Sunday.

Sunday afternoon at approximately 5:30 pm Brockville police received a call from the 22 year old female victim who is also the mother of the couple’s child asking for information from the police regarding family court matters as she felt unsafe. When officers arrived and spoke with the young woman they learned of a series domestic incidents dating back to the late summer when she was pregnant with their child which escalated from verbal to physical.

As a result of the interview officers determined that charges of assault were warranted and made several attempts to locate the accused over the past couple of days before locating him at a north end apartment last evening where he was arrested without incident.

March 28 – 29, 2017 Incidents

Pedestrian Struck on Ormond St

A 13 year old male youth suffered significant injuries to his shoulder after being struck yesterday afternoon on Ormond Street near Amy Street.

Approximately 2:30 pm yesterday afternoon Brockville Police responded to a motor vehicle and pedestrian accident on Ormond Street. The youth who was on the east side of the street crossing over to the west sidewalk following his friends was struck by a south bound Honda Civic. Leeds and Grenville EMS attended and conveyed the male to Brockville General Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The collision is still under investigation.

 

Bail Violation leads to Drug Charges

A 34 year old Brockville woman is facing charges of Breaching her Undertaking and Possession of a Controlled Substance following a couple of dealings with her last evening in downtown Brockville.

Brockville Police responded to a suspicious person complaint at approximately 7:30 pm on King Street and located the female who initially provided police with a false name. As she was known to other officers eventually she provided her correct name and stated she was enroute to the VIA Station as she had to catch the train to Ottawa to meet her curfew requirements of her Undertaking and was sent on her way.

This same female was then observed at King Street near Ormond at 10 pm by officers on patrol who was now past her curfew. As a result she was placed under arrest for breaching her Undertaking and taken into custody. She was placed into the back seat of the police cruiser and conveyed to Police Headquarters when officers noticed she had dropped a quantity drugs in the back seat of the car. She was further advised she would be facing additional drug charges.

 

Assist Staff at the Brockville General Hospital

Staff at the Brockville General Hospital Emergency Department called Brockville Police early this morning to assist with a 35 year old male patient who was in the Emergency department and in some distress.

At approximately 2:45 this morning officers responded to the ER to assist staff and security with the male who was agitated and in distress. With the assistance of staff and security, calm was eventually restored to the emergency area and the man admitted.

As a result of the incident, a security guard and one of the responding officers suffered minor injuries.

 

After School Program Popular:

The Brockville Police After School Program at Stingers is becoming very popular with local youth. Last evening 150 youths attended with 60 new registrations. This program is an amazing opportunity for youth to enjoy and safe and fun place to go after school. Participants enjoy playing laser tag, zorb ball, basketball, batting cages, volleyball, board games and to just have fun being kids.

 

Community Outreach Partnership Program

The Community Outreach Partnership Program is a partnership between Lanark Leeds and Grenville Mental Health and Addiction Services, Community mental health partner agencies and the Brockville Police Service. Police Officers and Mental Health workers ride together and check on the well-being of people who come into contact with the police for such things as poverty, mental health issues and addictions.

On Tuesday 4 wellness checks were conducted on members of the community and referrals were made for these individuals to access appropriate resources to support them and prevent repeated contacts with the police and justice system.

March 27 – 28, 2017 Incidents

Break in to Former Red Cross Building

Security at the Brockville General Hospital discovered a break in to the former Red Cross Building on Charles Street yesterday morning and contacted police.

A window on the east side of the building was smashed and a mannequin inside the building was damaged. At this time it is unknown if anything was missing from the building. Estimated value of the damage is $1500.

 

Stunt Driving Charges

Brockville Police charged a 27 year old local man with stunt driving yesterday morning.

Approximately 8:25 am police observed a large white Dodge pick-up exit the parking lot near Starbucks and turn left westbound onto Parkedale Ave at a high rate of speed. The truck was squealing its tires and drifting through the intersection as it turned onto Parkedale Ave. The vehicle continued fishtailing as it accelerated on Parkedale Ave before being stopped by police at the intersection of Parkedale Avenue at California Ave.

The pick-up truck was towed and impounded for 7 days and the driver charged for stunt driving as a result.

 

Tires Slashed

Brockville Police continue to receive complaints of tires being slashed in the city’s south end. During the day yesterday police received 2 calls of vehicles parked in the Buell and George Street area having their tires slashed sometime overnight.

March 26 – 27, 2017 Incidents

Impaired Driver

A 74 year old Athens area man is facing impaired driving charges, after Brockville Police received a report of an impaired driver near Mark’s Work Wearhouse in the city’s north end yesterday morning.

A citizen contacted the Brockville Police around 11:20 am yesterday to advise she had been following a vehicle and was concerned with their driving. She provided officers with a vehicle description and officers were able to locate the car at the Mark’s parking lot where the driver was arrested for impaired driving. He was conveyed to the Brockville Police Service where he provided breath samples of almost three times the legal limit.

He was released when sober with a future court date.

 

Domestic Disturbance

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 2 pm Brockville Police responded to a call of a domestic disturbance at a residence on Central Avenue between a 20 year old female victim and her 20 year old boyfriend.

During the argument the young woman was able to get a message to a friend that an argument was taking place who called the police on her behalf.

On officers arrival they learned an assault had taken place earlier and the 20 year old Brockville man was arrested and conveyed to Brockville Police headquarters where he was released with several conditions and given a future court date.

March 26, 2017 Incident

Impaired Driving

On Sunday at 11:10 am police responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver in the City’s north end. Police observed the male operating his vehicle and he was subsequently arrested for impaired driving. The subject provided a breath sample that was three times over the legal limit. He has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and released with a future court date.

March 24 – 25, 2017 Incidents

Warrant

A 40 year old male was arrested on an outstanding warrant as he was observed traveling on Parkedale Ave. The male was transported to the Brockville Jail to serve out his sentence. The subject was also charged for driving while under suspension.

 

Mischief

Police are investigating three separate occurrences where tires of vehicles were slashed in the downtown core. If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Brockville Police .

March 23 – 24, 2017

Unused Medication brought to School

Shortly after 1:00 pm yesterday afternoon Brockville Police responded with Leeds and Grenville EMS to assist staff at a local public school after a student brought some of his parent’s medication to school and shared it with friends. Staff at the school acted quickly and three youths were conveyed by EMS to Brockville General Hospital (BGH) and were examined and later released to their parents.

Further investigation revealed the children found the medication in an old purse of one of the children’s parents, which the parent thought was empty. The child brought the medication to school and the students experimented with the pills and soon did not feel well. Staff at the school contacted emergency services immediately upon learning of this and the students were conveyed to BGH. Fortunately, for all involved everyone is in good health.

Letters went home from the school to all students in the classrooms of the youths involved informing the parents of what had taken place and the staff, school and school board are working very closely with their community partners to educate students on the dangers of taking medications not prescribed for the person.

The public is reminded to safeguard all medications in your house and in your possession. Please destroy any unused or expired medications by returning it to your local pharmacy.

 

Traffic Initiative: School Zones

Traffic officers from the Brockville Police Service set up in the Kensington Parkway area yesterday morning from 8am -11am looking for speeders and distracted drivers.

Officers issued 9 speeding tickets during this time frame with the fastest stopped for 72 km/h in the 40 km/h school zone.
