March 10 – 12, 2022 News Release

Domestic Disturbance

On March 10, 2023 at about 9:00PM, the Brockville Police Service responded to a complaint of a domestic dispute, in the area of Montrose St. Officers arrived and investigation revealed that the 63-year-old male, had assaulted his wife slapping her and also striking her face with and object. The male was arrested and held for a bail hearing for the offences of assault and assault with a weapon.

 

Trespassing

On March 12, 2023 at about 9:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a call for assistance at Rotary Park for a 39-year-old female, who had locked herself in the public washroom. The female in question had previously been trespassed from the park and was no longer welcome there. She was removed from the washroom and charged with Trespassing. She was released with a future court date.

 

Warrants

The following are all arrests made in relation to warrants.

On March 10, 2023 at about 3:30PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service were in the area of Pearl St. W. They responded there in relation to an unrelated matter and located a 24-year-old female, wanted for failing to attend court. She was arrested and later released with a future court date.

Further;

On March 10, 2023 at about 4:30PM, a 42-year-old male, turned himself into the Brockville Police Service for warrant execution. The warrant was in relation to an investigation from January 2023, where the male was charged with aggravated assault and three counts of fail to comply with probation. He was held for a bail hearing.

Further;

On March 11, 2023 at about 2:00PM, the Brockville Police performed a traffic stop in the area of Front Ave., as a wanted male was observed in a vehicle. The passenger in the vehicle was identified to be a 23-year-old male, known to be wanted in relation to a charge of indecent act from mid-February. The driver was identified to be a 25-year-old male, wanted on a bench warrant for failing to attend court in relation to previous traffic related violations. Both were arrested and later released with conditions and future court dates.

March 7 – 10, 2023 News Release

Wanted Male Arrested and Leads to Drug and Weapon Possession

On March 10, 2023 at about 1:30AM, officers from the Brockville Police Service observed a 45-year-old male, in the area of the Circle K on King St. W. He was known to be wanted for previous charges of theft under $5,000.00 and fail to comply with probation. Once he was in custody, the male was searched. Officers located a collapsible baton, dog spray, several knives, various identity documents not belonging to him, $300.00 cash, quantities of crystal meth, methamphetamine tablets, Xanax and cocaine. The drugs had an approximate street value of $3,700.00. The male was additionally charged with four counts of possession of a substance for the purposes of trafficking, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of an identity document and fail to comply with probation. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

 

 

Repeated Loud Music Leads to Mischief Charge

Throughout the past several months the Brockville Police Service has been receiving multiple complaints of loud noise and music, coming from a residence on Pearl St W. The level and time of day of the noise has led to a disruption in the lawful enjoyment of other residents in the area. Officers had tried multiple other remedies during the past incidents, which, were seemingly being ignored. On March 9, 2023 at about 10:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received yet another complaint. Officers attended to find that the music from this particular residence was so loud, it could be heard clearly from the street inside the police vehicle. Officers spoke to the 62-year-old male, who was responsible for the repeated noise. After further investigation, the male was taken into custody. He was charged with mischief – interfering with the lawful enjoyment of property. He was released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Drug Possession

On March 7, 2023 officers from the Brockville Police Service conducted a traffic stop in the area of Central Ave. Two males were identified in the vehicle to be 16 and 19 years of age. The stop was conducted for a minor traffic infraction. During the stop, officers noticed open alcohol in the vehicle. That discovery led to officers locating a knife, four cell phones, cut (substance to mix with drugs), cannabis, scales and a quantity of cocaine. Both males were arrested and each charged with possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking. They were later released on conditions with a future court date. 

 

March 6 – 7, 2023 News Release

Medical Assistance Downtown

On March 6, 2023 at about 2:45PM, an officer from the Brockville Police Service was on patrol on King St. W. While in the area, the officer observed a local male, in his mid-sixties, collapsed on the ground in front of Finnegan’s Tavern. The officer quickly attended to the male to check on his well-being. It was found the male was non-responsive. Paramedics were requested and the officer began performing CPR. Other officers attended the scene and blocked off a portion of King St. W. Paramedics arrived on scene and shortly after, the male in question was taken to the Brockville General Hospital where he was unfortunately pronounced deceased. After further investigation, the death has been deemed not suspicious.

March 3 – 6, 2023 News Release

Domestic Disturbance

On March 3, 2023 at about 10:30AM, the Brockville Police Service responded to a complaint of a domestic dispute at a residence on Balmoral Pl. Officers spoke to the couple involved in the dispute. Investigation revealed that a 35-year-old male, uttered a death threat to his female partner. Due to the concern of safety for the female, the male was placed under arrest and charged with uttering threats. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Distraction Theft

Distractions continue to be a highly used method of committing thefts. Whether a victim is approached in a parking lot and distracted while being asked for assistance; or a store employee is distracted by a suspect asking for assistance and a second suspect conceals merchandise. Which is what took place on March 2, 2023 at about 6:00PM, at Shoppers Drug Mart on Parkedale Ave. Two female suspects entered into the store. One female distracted the employee by looking for assistance with products and a second female, appearing to be unrelated, concealed a large quantity of fragrances. It was also learned that the same two females had committed the same act at the Shoppers Drug Mart on King St. W. Approximately $5,200.00 worth of fragrances were stolen. The two female suspects are not believed to be local and the investigation is still ongoing. We encourage everyone, whether you are a clerk in a store or you are walking to your car at the grocery store, please be aware of these distraction techniques. Protect your valuables. If it appears you are being aware and cautious with these suspects, that alone will help deter these crimes from occurring.  

 

Domestic Disturbance Leads to Warrant Arrest

On March 3, 2023 at about 2:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received information of a couple involved in a domestic dispute at the Super 8 Motel, just East of Brockville. It was learned that the female involved was an 18-year-old female who had a warrant for her arrest. The warrant was in relation to charges of assault with a weapon, public mischief and three counts of fail to comply with probation as a result of an investigation approximately a week previous. Officers attended and investigated the domestic disturbance, which, no criminal offences occurred. The female was arrested for the warrant and she was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

February 27 – March 2, 2023 News Release

Fraud Investigation

The Brockville Police Service has received multiple complaints regarding a local Windows/Doors and Renovations Company. Parties have made substantial down payments for proposed work that is either partially completed or not completed at all. If you have provided a down payment to a local Windows/Doors and Renovations Company and the agreed upon work was not completed, please contact Detective Constable Lucas McArthur at 613-342-0127, EXT 4218.

The Brockville Police Service would like to remind the residence of Brockville to remain vigilant when hiring companies they have not previously used. Reputable businesses can often provide references and examples of work previously done. Websites such as the Better Business Bureau are also able to offer valuable insight to prospective customers.

 

Impaired Driving

On March 1, 2023 at about 3:30AM, officers performed a motor vehicle stop in the area of Stewart Blvd. and Central Ave. for speeding. The officers identified the driver to be a 30-year-old male. Investigation revealed that the male had been consuming alcohol and a roadside screening test was administered. The test resulted in a fail on the roadside device. The male was arrested for operation over 80mg. Further tests were performed confirming that the male was driving while over the legal limit. He was charged with operation while impaired, operation over 80mg and speeding. He was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

 

Weapons

On February 27, 2023 at about 11:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received information that a female was at an address on King St. W., locked inside with a gun. It was said she feared people were coming for her. Officers quickly responded to the area. The information was coming into police from a family member of the female in distress, who was not at the scene. Officers began searching for the female in question and clearing the building. They were also looking for other possible suspects in the area, there to cause harm. Eventually, the 49-year-old female, was located. Investigation revealed that there was no firearm, nor was the female in distress. Officers did find that she was in possession of two knives and also on a release order with bail conditions. She was arrested and charged with possession of weapon for dangerous purpose and fail to comply with release order as she was not residing with her surety at her court approved address. She was held in custody for a bail hearing.

February 24 – 27, 2023 News Release

Shoplifting and Attempt to Evade Arrest

On February 24, 2023 at about 6:30PM, the Brockville Police Service responded to Canadian Tire Store on Parkedale Ave., regarding a 39-year-old male, cutting into packaging and concealing items. Officers arrived at the store and located the male suspect in question. When the male observed police, he attempted to evade the arrest. Officers did contain the male into an area and took him into custody. Investigation revealed that the male was on probation with conditions to abstain from attending a Canadian Tire Store. All items were recovered and the male was charged with theft under $5,000.00 and fail to comply with probation. He was released with a future court date.

 

 Warrants and Weapon Offence

On February 24, 2023 at about 9:00PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service were on patrol in the area of Garden St. and Pine St. There, the officers observed a 37-year-old male, who was known to be wanted on a multiple warrants for a variety of charges. Some of the charges include carrying a concealed weapon, fail to comply with bail release order, fail to attend court and seven counts of fail to comply with probation. He was placed under arrest and when searched officers located a large hunting knife in his possession. He was on bail conditions to abstain possession of knives. He was additionally charged with another count of failing to comply with release order and probation. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Warrant

On February 26, 2023 at about 3:00PM, the Brockville Police Service learned that the Cornwall Police Service had arrested a 28-year-old male, wanted on a warrant held by the Brockville Police. The warrant was in relation to charges of uttering threats, criminal harassment and two counts of fail to comply with probation, stemming from an investigation in early February. He was turned over to the Brockville Police Service and held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Warrant and Drug Possession

On February 27, 2023 at about 4:00AM, officers from the Brockville Police Service observed a 34-year-old female, known to be wanted, in the area of William St. She was wanted for failing to attend court in relation to a charge of failing to comply with probation. She was placed under arrest and when searched, officers located a quantity of crystal methamphetamine. She was held in custody for a bail hearing regarding the warrant and the additional charge of possession of methamphetamine.  

 

February 21 – 23, 2023 News Release

Since February 21, 2023 the Brockville Police Service has had over 150 calls for service. In that time we have made 10 arrests, 3 mental health apprehensions and held 3 people in custody for bail hearings. Many calls that we receive require significant time and resources and don’t always get reported for various reasons. Hours of work can sometimes go into an investigation that don’t result in an arrests or charges. Below are more details on a few of these calls for service.

 

Theft

On February 21, 2023 at about 3:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a stolen electric scooter from the Real Canadian SuperStore on Parkedale Ave. Officers attended the scene and located a 41-year-old female, who was responsible for the theft and attempting to flee the area. The female was arrested for the theft. Investigation revealed that she was wanted on other charges of mischief. She was later released on paperwork with a court date for the offence of theft under $5,000.00 and mischief under $5,000.00.

 

Probation Breach

On February 22, 2023 at about 11:30AM, the Brockville Police Service received information regarding a male on Court House Ave., appearing to be under the influence of drugs and in possession of a knife. Officers arrived to the area and located the 24-year-old male, suspect. Investigation revealed that the male was in possession of a knife that was secured to his waist. He was not brandishing it or making any threats. It was also learned that this male was on probation with conditions to abstain from possessing a knife. It was found that he was also in possession of some documents that did not belong to him. The male was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000.00 and fail to comply with probation. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Fail to comply with Probation

On February 22, 2023, a 22-year-old male, attended to the Brockville Public Library on Buell St. It was learned this male was on probation with conditions to abstain from attending there. On February 23, 2023 at about 5:30PM, officers located the male in the area of Victoria Ave. He was arrested for failing to comply with probation and held in custody for a bail hearing.

  
Warrants

On February 22, 2023 at about 11:30PM, it was learned that the OPP had arrested a 31-year-old female, on an outstanding warrant held by the Brockville Police Service. The warrant was for a charge of failing to comply with probation. The female was turned over to the Brockville Police and she was held for a bail hearing.

Further;

On February 22, 2023 at about 1030AM, it was learned that the OPP had arrested a 38-year-old female, on an outstanding warrant held by the Brockville Police Service. The warrant was in relation to a charge of break and enter, stemming from an incident in January, 2023. The female was turned over to the Brockville Police and she was held for a bail hearing.

Further;

On February 23, 2023 at about 1:00PM, the Brockville Police Service located a 31-year-old female, in the area of King St. W., on outstanding warrants. There were various warrants for charges of mischief under $5,000.00 and seven counts of fail to comply with probation. The female was arrested and held for a bail hearing.

 

February 19 – 20, 2023 News Release

Unwanted Person Leads to Arrest

On February 19, 2023 at about 7:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a call of an unwanted person at a residence on Hastings Drive. Officers arrived and found the unwanted person to be a 43-year-old female. Further investigation revealed that the female also had a bench warrant for her arrest in relation to failing to attend court. The female was arrested and released shortly after with a new court date.

 

Probation Condition Breach

On February 20, 2023 at about 6:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received information regarding a 24-year-old male, breaching probation conditions in the area of Ormond St. The male was on conditions to abstain from communicating with or attending the residence of a female. Officers attended and located the male in the area. He was arrested and charged with three counts of failing to comply with probation. He was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

 

Warrants

On February 19, 2023 at about 4:30AM, officers from the Brockville Police Service located a 55-year-old male, in the area of Pearl St. E. The male was known to be on a Conditional Sentence Order with a condition of house arrest. Also, a warrant had been issued in relation to him failing to attend for fingerprinting.  The male was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.

Further;

On February 19, 2023 at about 5:45AM, the Brockville Police Service responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of Perth St. and Brock St. While there, officers did not find a disturbance but did locate a 49-year-old female, who had a warrant for her arrest. The warrant was issued as a result of failing to attend court. The female was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

 

February 16 – 17, 2023 News Release

Warrants

The following is information regarding arrests on various warrants.

On February 13, 2023 at about 7:30AM, the Brockville Police Service received a call for two unwanted people at an apartment building on Water St. Officers attended and spoke to the parties involved. Police identified a 40-year-old female, who had a warrant for her arrest in relation to charges of break and enter and possession of stolen property. The charges were stemming from an investigation from January, 2023. She was arrested and released with a new court date.

Further;

On February 6, 2023 at about 11:00PM, the Brockville Police Service conducted an investigation regarding damage to the property at the Royal Brock Retirement Home, on Stewart Blvd. A 39-year-old male and 48-year-old female, were identified as the ones responsible for the damage and arrest warrants were issued. On February 15, 2023 at about 4:30PM, the female was arrested at the Ontario Court of Justice, for the offence of mischief under $5,000.00. On February 16, 2023 at about 3:30PM, the male was located and arrested in the area of Strowger Blvd., for the offences of mischief under $5,000.00 and fail to comply with probation. They were both released with future court dates.

Further;

On February 16, 2023 at about 10:00AM, the Brockville Police Service arrested a 22-year-old female, who had an outstanding bench warrant for failing to attend court. The warrant was held by the Grenville County OPP. She was arrested and held for a bail hearing on behalf of the OPP. 

 

Theft and Fraud

On January 14, 2023 at about 9:30AM, the Brockville Police Service investigated the theft of a debit card from a victim’s vehicle in the area of King ST. W. It was also revealed that the debit card was then used to make multiple small purchases at convenience stores. Investigation determined that three males were primarily responsible for this incident. They have been identified as 14, 16 and 19-year-old males. Officers reached out and have now located the males. Each one has been arrested and charged with the offences of fraud under $5,000.00 and possession of stolen property. They were all released with future court dates.

 

Threat of a Weapon

On February 16, 2023 at about 11:00AM, the Brockville Police Service received a call for assistance regarding a 24-year-old male, out front of the Brockville General Hospital, threatening with a knife. Officers responded quickly and located the male. He was causing a disturbance at the hospital but when officers checked him, no knife could be found. However, a quantity of crystal methamphetamine was located on him. After speaking with him further, it was determined that no threats were made but he needed to be at the hospital for assistance with his mental health. He was released into the care of the Brockville General Hospital.  

 

February 11 – 13, 2023 News Release

Break and Enter and Possession of Stolen Property

On February 11, 2023 at about 4:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a call at a residence on Brock St. in relation to a break and enter. The home owner attended the residence to perform renovations. When they did, they found that the locks had been tampered with and believed someone was inside. Officer’s attended and located a 39-year-old female, inside the residence. She was placed under arrest for break and enter. It was learned that she was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. Once processed, she was released on an undertaking with additional conditions. She was also given a future court date for the offences of break and enter and fail to comply with probation.

Further;

While officer’s were investigating the break and enter incident above, there was a 16-year-old, male, riding his bicycle in the area. This male was known to be wanted for fraud and possession of stolen property. These charges were as a result of an investigation reported on January 14, 2023, where a victim’s car had been entered, debit card stolen and the card was used to make small purchases. The male was arrested for fraud under $5,000.00 and possession of stolen property. He was charged with those offences and released with a future court date.  

 

Warrants and Drug Possession

On February 12, 2023 at about 11:00PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service, observed a 21-year-old, male, known to be wanted for failing to attend for fingerprinting. The male was arrested for the warrant and when searched, the officers located a quantity of methamphetamine. The substance was seized and the male was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine. He was released on an appearance notice for all charges with a new court date.   

 

Warrant

On February 10, 2023 at about 6:15AM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding an unwanted person at a residence on James St. W. Officers attended and during the investigation, located a 29-year-old, female, who had a bench warrant for their arrest for failing to attend court. She was arrested for that offence and held for bail.
