Over the last week from June 3 – June 10, as of the time this release has been sent, the Brockville Police Service received 315 calls for service. While responding to those calls there were a total of 22 arrests, five mental health apprehensions and three medical assist calls for overdoses. As a result of investigations there were 35 Criminal Charges laid. It is also important to note that between May 25^th and June 6^th focused enforcement was performed on speeding within the city. This resulted in 28 speeding related charges laid. These types of speed enforcement initiatives are carried out as public safety is our highest priority.

Impaired Driving

On June 8, 2022 at about 2:30PM, the Brockville Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision in the area of Parkedale Ave. and Windsor Dr. The vehicle that caused the collision had left the immediate area and was located a short distance away. Officers spoke to everyone involved and found that no one was injured in the collision. Investigation revealed that the driver responsible for the collision was a 20-year-old female. It was observed that she was showing signs of intoxication. A Standard Field Sobriety Test was completed as there was suspicion of possible impairment by drugs. Due to testing results, she was arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing. After testing, it was determined that she was intoxicated by alcohol as she had provided breath samples at about three times the legal limit. The vehicle was impounded, her driver’s licence was suspended and she was charged with impaired driving and operate a vehicle over 80mg of alcohol in her blood.

Break and Enter, Theft and Mischief

On June 8, 2022 at about 9:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received information of multiple youths who were in dispute over a stolen pair of shoes. Through investigation, officers learned that two males who were 15 and 16 of age, had broken into a residence on Pearl St. W. They did so to steal a pair of shoe. The shoes belonged to another youth who lived at the residence. After the theft occurred, two males 16 and 18 years of age who live at the residence, attended to the home of the possible suspects. While there, in retaliation, the two males caused damage to the door in an attempt to break in and retrieve the shoes. Officers spoke to all the individuals involved and determined that the youths primarily responsible for the incident would be charged. Some of the charges issued include break and enter to commit theft and mischief under $5,000.00.

Weapons

On June 10, 2022 at about 3:30AM, the Brockville Police Service stopped a cyclist in the area of William St., as they did not have a light. A light while cycling at night is a requirement under the Highway Traffic Act. The cyclist was stopped and identified to be a 33-year-old male. Upon the stop, it was observed that he was in possession of brass knuckles. The item was seized and he was charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon. He was released with a future court date.    

Warrants

On June 8, 2022 at about 6:00PM, the Brockville Police Service arrested a 20-year-old male, who turned himself in to police. He was aware of a warrant for his arrest regarding a charge of mischief under $5,000.00, stemming from an investigation that was initiated on December 31, 2021. He was arrested and released with a future court date.

Further;

On June 9, 2022 at about 2:15PM, the Brockville Police Service located a 33-year-old male who was wanted. His warrant was in regards to a charge of failing to attend for fingerprinting. He was arrested and released after processing with a future court date.

Causing a Disturbance

On June 6, 2022 at about 10:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a call of a 44-year-male on King St. W., causing a disturbance. Information was learned that the male had thrown a rock at a vehicle. It is unknown if there was any damage caused as the vehicle left the scene prior to police arrival. Officers did locate the male and found him to be intoxicated. He was arrested and held in custody until sober. He was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for being intoxicated in a public place.

Bail Violation

On June 6, 2022 at about 9:30PM, the Brockville Police Service located a 21-year-old male in the area of Brock St. He was known to be wanted as a result of an investigation that took place on June 3, 2022. The male was on both an undertaking and probation conditions to abstain from communicating with another individual. It was discovered that he in fact had broken those conditions. He was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of fail to comply with undertaking and fail to comply with probation.

Theft

On June 6, 2022 at about 9:00PM, the Brockville Police Service located a 51-year-old male who was known to be wanted for theft. The investigation took place on June 1, 2022 where the male was identified as the one responsible for stealing about $200.00 worth of groceries from the Real Canadian SuperStore on Parkedale Ave. Officers arrested the male for theft under $5,000.00. He was later released with conditions and a new court date for the offence of theft under $5,000.00.

Weapons

On June 7, 2022 at about 12:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about a fight involving three people in the area of King St. W. Further information was received that one of the individuals involved had pulled a knife on the other two involved. The incident was captured on video which assisted in the identification of those involved. The individual who pulled the knife was a 39-year-old male and he was arrested. He was then searched and officers located a quantity of hydromorphone. He was charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, possession of hydromorphone and fail to comply with probation. No one was injured in the incident. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing.  

Stolen Property

On June 7, 2022 at about 2:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding a suspect in possession of an E-bike in the area of the 1000 Islands Mall. Officers attended and located the suspect. The suspect was determined to be in possession of the E-bike, which was reported stolen the previous day on June 6, 2022. The E-bike was seized and the suspect was arrested. Originally, the suspect gave a false name to police. However, she was later identified to be a 36-year-old female. It was also found that she had a warrant for her arrest, issued by the Gananoque Police Service, for fail to attend court. She was charged with possession of stolen property and obstruct peace officer. She was turned over to the Gananoque Police Service for the purposes of warrant execution.  

Break and Enter

On June 3, 2022 at about 6:15PM, the Brockville Police Service received a burglary alarm at the Second Time Around store on Parkedale Ave. Officers attended the area and located a 43-year-old male in the vicinity. Investigation revealed that he was responsible for the entry. He was placed under arrest for break and enter. Upon searching the male officers located a quantity of crystal meth. He was held for a bail hearing for the offences of break and enter, possession of crystal meth and fail to comply with probation.  

Domestic Dispute

On June 3, 2022 at about 11:00AM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a domestic dispute in the area of Daniel St. Officers attended and found that a male and female couple had been in a physical altercation. The couple were engaged in an argument that turned physical and then escalated until the 37-year-old male, struck the female with a wooden hairbrush. The male then fled the area prior to police arrival. The injuries are considered non-life-threatening. On June 4, 2022 at about 5:30PM, the 37-year-old male was arrested by the Brockville Police Service. He was charged with assault with a weapon and assault. He was released with conditions and a future court date. 

Break and Enter to Residences

On June 3, 2022 during the mid-day hours, the Brockville Police Service received calls from two different residences regarding break and enters. One was a residence on Broadway Ave. and the other on Margaret Pl. In both cases the suspect had entered into the garage. In one incident, the suspect had entered the residence. Both locations had items taken, some of which were recovered. One of the home owners actually confronted the male suspect who fled the area. Police attended to investigate. Further reports came in regarding this suspicious activity in the area. It was found that the suspect was captured on video while in possession of some of the stolen property. The suspect was identified to be a 35-year-old male. He was arrested on June 5, 2022 at about 11:00PM. He was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of break and enter, possession stolen property and fail to comply with probation.

Impaired Driving

On June 5, 2022 at about 1:30AM, the Brockville Police Service conducted a traffic stop in the area of King St. W. and Gilmour St. The stop was regarding a possible impaired driver. The driver was identified to be a 47-year-old male. There were signs indicating the male had been consuming alcohol. He gave a roadside screening breath sample which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Station for further breath sample testing. It was determined that he was driving with a blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. He was charged with the offences of impaired driving and operate a vehicle over 80mg. His drivers licence was also suspended for 90 days, vehicle impounded and released with a future court date.

Warrants

On June 3, 2022 at about 4:30PM, an officer from the Brockville Police Service located a 42-year-old male, who was known to be wanted. The male had a bench warrant out for his arrest for failing to attend court. He was arrested and released with a new court date.

Further;

On June 3, 2022 at about 1:00PM, the Via police had located a 33-year-old male who had warrants for his arrest. These warrants were held by the Brockville Police Service. They were in relation to a charge of theft under $5,000.00 and the warrants were issued as he failed to attend court and failed to attend for fingerprinting. He was turned over to the Brockville Police Service. Once processed, he was released with a future court date.

Further;

On June 5, 2022 at about 1:30PM, the Brockville Police Service located and arrested a 43-year-old female, who was known to be wanted on a bench warrant for fail to attend court. The court date was in relation to multiple offences including impaired driving, assault and theft under $5,000.00.  She was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.

Public Intoxication Arrests Downtown

Officers responded to two reports yesterday of suspicious males in the downtown corridor who were later located by police and found to be asleep and under the influence of alcohol.

Yesterday afternoon shortly after 4 p.m. Brockville Police received a call of a suspicious male lying on the sidewalk on Apple Street not far from the intersection with King St. When officers arrived they located a 59 year old Brockville man, who was obviously under the influence of alcohol and unable to care for himself. As a result he was arrested for Public Intoxication and held until he was sober and released with a Provincial Offences notice.

Once again at 6:30 p.m. officers were called to the downtown area after reports of a suspicious male at the south end of Broad St. When officers arrived they located a 44 year old Brockville area man lying near a flower bed under the influence of alcohol and also unable to care for himself. He too, was placed under arrest for Public Intoxication and held in custody until sober and released with a Provincial Offences notice.

Police seek witnesses in George Street Disturbance

Investigators are seeking witnesses to a disturbance on George Street during the early morning hours Friday.

At approximately 12:20 a.m. officers were called to an area of George Street between Buell St and John St involving 3 males in an altercation. When they arrived officers spoke with one of the males involved in the altercation but two others had fled the scene. One of the males, may have suffered an injury during the altercation

Domestic Disturbance leads to Assault Charges

A 29 year old Brockville man is facing assault charges, the result of a domestic disturbance at a north end apartment building late last evening.

At approximately 11:20 p.m. officers were called to an apartment complex in the city’s north end after alert neighbours heard yelling and witnessed a couple arguing out their window. On officers arrival the yelling was continuing and police were able to locate the apartment the disturbance was coming from. After speaking with all involved, the man was arrested at the scene for domestic assault without incident. He was conveyed to the Brockville Police Service and released on several conditions to protect the safety of the victim and released with a future court date.

The 23 year old female victim did not suffer any physical injuries as a result of the altercation.

Rash of Vandalism in the Downtown Core

Brockville Police are currently investigating a number of reports of vandalism in the downtown core of Brockville.

Businesses and City staff contacted the police after their buildings, fences and playground structures were spray painted over the past several days. They include:

• Mailbox (King St W/Beecher St)
• Buildings
  • 5 Home Street (Medical Centre)
  • Brockville Arts Centre
  • 103 King St West (2-4-1 Pizza/Manpower Building)
  • 138 King St West (Shopper’s)
  • The new bathroom building at Hardy Park
• Play Structure at Hardy Park

Break and Enter

Brockville Police are investigating a break and enter to a downtown Brockville Restaurant overnight Monday. At approximately 10am Tuesday Morning officers were called to the Nakhon Thai Restaurant located at 28 King St West, in Brockville when owners discovered the break-in at the rear of the restaurant. 

Officers attended to the restaurant and seized a number of items for forensic identification purposes in relation to the break in.

The business suffered minor damage and an undisclosed number of items were taken from the business. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Brockville Police at 613-342-0127 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)

Stunt Driving Charges

A 19 year old Brockville area man is facing Stunt Driving charges after being pulled over on North Augusta Road last evening.

Constable Cam Young clocked a 2022 Toyota Tacoma travelling in excess of 100km/h  in the area of North Augusta Road and Waverly Drive, before eventually getting the vehicle stopped.

In addition to the Stunt Driving Charges, the young man is also facing a 30 day license suspension and his vehicle will be impounded for 14 days.

RIDE Programs

With the warmer weather and the summer holiday season fast approaching Brockville Police will again be stepping our RIDE programs throughout the city.

Last night officers set up on Stewart Blvd between 1am-2am and stopped a number of vehicles travelling north bound. Officers were very pleased to report there were no alcohol related incidents

Break and Enter

On May 26, 2022 at about 10:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a break and Enter at the Connect Youth facility at 125 Stewart Blvd. It was found that there was a male was on security video, leaving out of the rear of the building, in possession of a Dewalt tool bag. Officers attended the area and found a male matching the description captured on video. The male was arrested and identified to be a 43-year-old male. He was searched and officers found the Dewalt tool bag that was observed on video, along with other electronics and brand new cell phones still in the box. These cell phones were later confirmed to have been stolen from Connect Youth, as multiple phones were reported stolen the previous day. Once the investigation was complete, he was charged with the offences of break and enter, possession of break and enter tools, two counts of property obtained by crime and fail to comply with probation. He was released on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date.

Altercation Leads to Assault

On May 29, 2022 at about 2:45PM, the Brockville Police Service received a report of a fight that had taken place on Brock St. Investigation revealed that a 38-year-old male had engaged in a physical altercation with another resident in the area. The other male involved in the fight required medical attention. The injuries are considered non-life-threatening.  The 38-year-old male was arrested for assault cause bodily harm. At that time, he resisted the arrest and attempted to fight police. He struck, kicked and threatened every officer who was involved at the scene. He caused damage to the police vehicle that he was secured in as well by kicking the doors. The officers did not suffer significant injuries. In addition to the assault cause bodily harm charge, this male was charged with mischief under $5,000.00, obstruct peace officer, five counts of assault peace officer and six counts of uttering threats. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Family Dispute Leads to Assault

On May 29, 2022 at about 6:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a fight that had taken place between two siblings, in the Cartier Court area. Investigation revealed that a 42-year-old male was engaged in a dispute with his sister. As the dispute escalated, he struck his sister in the face twice, causing an injury to her nose. Shortly after, the male was located and arrested for assault. He was charged and released on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date.   

Damage to Vehicles

On May 29, 2022 at about 8:00AM, the Brockville Police Service received complaints of multiple vehicles damaged in the Kensington Pkwy vicinity. Damage consisted of slashed tires and scratched (keyed) paint. The Brockville Police Service always encourages the public to report any information about these incidents and if you see anything suspicious, notify the police at the time.

Bail Violations

On May 30, 2022 at about 12:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received information of a male at the Kensington Plaza who was causing a disturbance. Information was that a male was in the parking lot area yelling obscenities at customers of the plaza. He was also purposely blocking traffic. Officers arrived and identified the male to be a 36-year-old male. Investigation revealed that he was on a release order with a condition to not attend the Kensington Plaza property, due to previous disturbances. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing for the offences of fail to comply with release order and fail to comply with probation.

Shoplifting

On May 30, 2022 at about 9:00PM, the Brockville Police Service was notified of a shoplifter at the Real Canadian Superstore on Parkedale Ave. Officers arrived and learned that a 52-year-old male, had attended to the Superstore and proceeded through the cashier area paying for some merchandise. It was discovered that the male had concealed approximately $100.00 worth of other merchandise, which he did not disclose to the cashier. He attempted to leave the store making no attempt to pay for the concealed items. He was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000.00 and released with a future court date.    

Warrants

On May 27, 2022 at about 6:00PM, an officer from the Brockville Police Service located a 33-year-old male, in the area of King St. W., who was known to be wanted. The male was wanted on an arrest warrant for failing to comply with release order. He was arrested and released shortly after with a new court date.

Further;

On May 31, 2022 at about 1:30AM, the Brockville Police Service located and arrested a 60-year-old male, who was known to be wanted, on King St. W. He had a warrants for his arrest regarding a charge of failing to attend the Brockville Police Service for fingerprinting and a bench warrant for failing to attend court. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Mischief and Assaulting Police

On May 23, 2022 at about 9:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received multiple complaints of a male attempting to strike and jump on moving vehicles in the area of Parkedale Ave. and California Ave. Officers attended the area and located the 29-year-old male who was causing this disturbance. When officers approached him, he was not co-operative with police. It was believed he was suffering from a medical emergency suspected to be caused by substance consumption. As police attempted to arrest the male for causing damage to a vehicle, he became combative and during the struggle, kicked one of the officers in the mouth. He was taken control of and eventually taken to the hospital due to his physical state. Once he was released by the hospital, he was charged with the offences of mischief under $5,000.00, assaulting a peace officer and 2 counts of fail to comply with probation. He was given documents with a future court date. The officers did not suffer any lasting injuries.

Domestic Dispute

On May 25, 2022 at about 3:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding threats of harm to another, in the Glengarry Rd. area. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to a male who advised that he and his 30-year-old girlfriend, had recently broken up. They were at the residence together when tensions were rising. At one point the 30-year-old female, grabbed a knife and held it towards the male. She had also made comments that she was going to kill him. Officers arrested the female and charged her with assault with a weapon and uttering threats. Once a safety plan was in place, she was released with conditions and a future court date. 

Warrant

On May 23, 2022 at about 10:00PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service located and arrested a 33-year-old female who was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant. The warrant was for failing to attend court. She was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.

Further;

On May 24, 2022 at about 9:00AM, a 25-year-old male had turned himself into the Brockville Police Service as he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The warrant was in relation to an investigation of an unwanted person, which took place on May 14, 2022. This resulted in him being charged with unlawfully in a dwelling, fail to comply with probation and two counts of fail to comply with release order. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing.

Further;

On May 25, 2022 at about 7:00AM, a 57-year-old male turned himself into the Brockville Police Service as he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. It was a bench warrant for fail to attend court. He was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.   

Unwanted Person

On May 20, 2022 at about 2:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about an unwanted person on Ferguson Dr. A 20-year-old male was a guest, visiting at a residence where he became no longer welcome. As he was outside the residence, he struck the homeowner’s vehicle causing damage. When police arrived, he was not initially listening to demands. He was taken control of and arrested without any injuries. He was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of mischief under $5,000.00 and fail to comply with probation.

Domestic Dispute

On May 20, 2022 at about 6:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a domestic dispute on King St. W. The information was that a 22-year-old male was residing with his girlfriend at her families apartment. An altercation erupted between the male and his girlfriend. The male choked his girlfriend and was kicked out of the residence shortly after. The male then made entry back into the residence by causing damage to the door and damaged items inside. He then fled on foot prior to police arrival. Officers attended the area and located the male in the area of Beecher St. He was arrested and held in custody for the offences of assault and mischief. The injuries to the female are described as non-life-threatening.

Theft

On May 20, 2022 at about 8:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received information regarding a theft from a residence on Brock St. Neighbours in the area to the victim’s residence, observed a 35-year-old male, walk onto the property and take something from the front yard. The residences garage door was open and it was unsure if the male had entered. Officers attended the area and located the male. He was in possession of items that were taken from a children’s play table in the front yard. He was arrested, charged with theft under $5,000.00 and released with a court date. 

Domestic Dispute

On May 22, 2022 at about 5:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about a domestic dispute on Pearl St. W. A couple were arguing at the residence and the male went out to the porch during it. As the male was still frustrated, he began damaging items on the porch including the door. Police arrived and arrested the male. The 32-year-old male was charged with mischief under $5,000.00. He was later released with a future court date. 

Domestic Dispute

On May 23, 2022 at about 2:15AM, the Brockville Police Service received information about a domestic dispute on Pine St. Officers arrived and found that a 42-year-old male was visiting his girlfriends residence and he had assaulted her during an argument. Injuries are described as minor or non-life-threatening. The male was arrested and charged with assault. He was later released with a new court date.
