Unwanted Person

On May 14th at 2:07 pm., Brockville Police attended an unwanted person complaint at a south end apartment complex.

A local, 26 year old male, attended another man’s residence, wanting to confront him over rumours he believed he was spreading. The resident would not open the door and indicated he was calling Police. The suspect threatened to kill him and damaged the door while trying to gain entry. When Police attended the apartment, the male had fled.

A check of his last known residence was a dead end as the male had moved. The accused was located by Kingston Police earlier this morning and is in their custody for now. He faces charges of mischief, utter death threats, breach of a current probation order and breach of release conditions in regards to outstanding charges.

Theft

On May 14th at 4:44 pm., Brockville Police attended a north end box store for a theft complaint.

A local, 47 year old man, was caught shoplifting from the store. When arrested by loss prevention staff at the store, he fled and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. He now faces charges of theft and escaping lawful custody.

Noise Complaint

On May 14th at 9:44 pm., Brockville Police attended a noise complaint at a south end apartment building.

The call turned out to be an argument between a 20 year old male and an 18 year old female. The young woman agreed to attend another residence for the evening. The young man was on probation with a condition not to consume alcohol. He had been drinking when spoken to by Officers. Police issued the man a future court date for breach of probation.

Domestic Dispute

On May 15th at 12:58 am., Brockville Police attended a domestic dispute at a duplex in the center of the city.

The common law couple had a verbal disagreement that turned physical. A 33 year old man choked his 32 year old partner and then punched her in the head. A child in the residence called 911 at the victim’s request. The man was also on release conditions for drug related charges earlier this year.

Police arrested the accused and he was charged with assault and choking. He was held in custody and awaits a bail hearing.

Disturbance

On May 15th at 2:12 am., Brockville Police attended a fight going on outside a downtown bar.

Three local people, a 24 year old female and two males aged 36 and 37, were all involved in the exchange. All three parties ended up under arrest for being intoxicated in a public place. Their release took place later the same day and each received a fine.

Impaired Driving

On May 15th at 3:11 am., Brockville Police Officers stopped a vehicle on a south end street after witnessing some suspect driving.

The driver, a 29 year old, local female, was arrested for impaired driving. At the station she provided breath samples that registered between one a half and two times the legal limit. A second charge of driving over the legal limit was subsequently laid. Her licence is now suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded. She was released later the same day with a future court date.

Breach of Probation

On May 15th at 8:32 am., Brockville Police dealt with a local couple in the downtown area.

The 37 year old female, was on conditions of probation with one of them being not to associate with the 50 year old man she was found with. She was also serving a sentence in the community for other charges and was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Drug Offences

On May 16th at 4:54 am., Brockville Police dealt with a female in a traffic stop on a north end street.

The 31 year old was found to be in possession of both crystal meth and heroin. The local woman was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. She was released with a future court date.

Disturbance

On May 11th at 4:36 pm., Brockville Police attended a group home in the south end of the city to deal with female resident giving staff a difficult time.

Officers dealt with the woman, 57 years of age, feeling things were better on their departure.  At 5:26 pm., Officers had to return as issues had started back up with the same resident.  Police apprehended the woman and escorted her to hospital where she was admitted for appropriate treatment.

Traffic Stop

On May 11th at 8:05 pm., Brockville Police stopped a motor vehicle on Parkedale Avenue for an expired validation on the licence plate.

The bigger problem for the driver however, he was disqualified from operating a vehicle due to an impaired driving conviction.  The local, 37 year old, was charged with driving while disqualified and released at the scene with a future court date.  His vehicle was towed and will be impounded for a period of 45 days. A large bill awaits the man when he goes to retrieve his car!!

Trouble with Youth

On May 11th at 9:42 pm., Brockville Police received a complaint of a young teen in possession of a toy hand gun.

The youth was observed walking on a north end street with the fake pistol clearly visible.  Officers found the local, 13 year old, then escorted him home to speak with his father.  The seriousness of his actions were explained to he and his Dad.  Officers did not lay any charges but seized the plastic gun.

Family Dispute

On May 10th at 11:16 am., Brockville Police responded to a family dispute at a south end residence.

Officers ended up arresting a local, 13 year old female, after she struck her mother. The mother did not require medical assistance. The young teen was also on conditions of probation and was violating those conditions when carrying out the assault.

She was held in custody and will appear in bail court.

Theft

On May 10th at 12:19 pm., Brockville Police attended a north end box store for a theft complaint.

A 41 year old female, from the Prescott area, had been apprehended by store security for shoplifting. Officers arrived and the woman was issued paperwork for a future court date and released at the scene.

Correction:

During the stories this week about the black bear in the east end of the city, some wrong information went out. There was a tweet that stated the bear was captured and released. Actually, the attempt to tranquilize the bear was unsuccessful and visual contact was lost after the animal entered a wooded area. We apologize for the incorrect information and the tweet has been removed.

Theft

On May 9th at 9:37 am, Brockville Police received information that the Ottawa Police had arrested a man wanted for theft in Brockville.

Officers attended their city and returned the 45 year old, Lanark area resident. He was held in custody and taken to bail court. The accused was remanded into custody until later this week.

Public Mischief

On May 9th at 2:01 pm., Brockville Police attended the pay phone area at the Sears entrance of the 1000 Islands Mall.

Since April 18th, Police had received nine (9) phone calls involving a female talking about harming animals with guns and knives. Each time there was no one in the area when Officers arrived. She had been captured on video however. On May 9th, Police observed the female in the area and a foot pursuit ensued. Officers caught up to her and she was arrested and charged with Public Mischief. A check of her background showed a history of similar type behaviour in cities west of Brockville.

The 40 year old, originally from the Hamilton area, was held in custody and will appear in bail court later today.

Breaching of Conditions

On May 9th at 3:31 pm., Brockville Police had taken a local, 23 year old male, to bail court to deal with weapons charges and breaches of release conditions.

The male was released from bail court on conditions by a Justice of the Peace.

Within an hour of his release, the man was observed by Officers attending the beer store in the center of town. One of his new conditions was to abstain from purchasing, possessing or consuming alcohol. His freedom did not last long. The man was arrested for breaching his one hour old conditions and taken back into custody. he will appear in bail court again this afternoon.

Breach of Conditions

On May 9th at 10:36 pm., Brockville Police attended a south end apartment building to check on a man’s wellbeing. A friend had contacted Police as he was out of town and had reason to believe the man might harm himself.

Officers located the local, 21 year old, and noted he was intoxicated. He was on release conditions that included no alcohol. Officers took the young man to hospital for assistance. The breach of his release conditions was handled by way of a document giving him a future court date.
