Firearm and Weapons Possession

On January 11, 2022 at about 9:30PM, an officer from the Brockville Police Service investigated a suspicious vehicle in the area of the Via Rail station on Perth St. The solo occupant of the vehicle was a 50-year-old male who was found to be wanted on an unendorsed warrant, conditional sentence order and was prohibited from possessing weapons. The male was then arrested and upon searching him, officers found a Derringer style Smith and Wesson revolver hand gun. The gun was tucked in his waistband and loaded with a single .22 caliber round. The search continued and officers also found a set of brass knuckles and a switchblade knife. Additionally, almost 90g grams of crystal meth was concealed in his coat. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing for multiple offences including possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition x 3, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose x 2; possession of prohibited or restricted firearm; carry concealed weapon; knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm; carry firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner, possession of loaded restricted firearm and possession of crystal meth for the purpose of trafficking.

Shoplifting

On January 10, 2022 at about 4:00PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service attended to Canadian Tire on Parkedale Ave. in response to a complaint of a shoplifter. It was reported that a male had entered the store and filled a cart with merchandise. The male suspect exited the store making no attempt to pay for the items. As police were notified quickly, officers were able to arrive on scene soon enough to make contact with the male before he was gone. When the officers approached, the male decided to run and officers pursued on foot. Shortly after the male was arrested for the theft. The male suspect was not cooperative with his identification at first but, with further investigation, it was revealed that he was a 55-year-old male. The stolen merchandise was recovered and totaled an approximate value of $2,800.00. When he was searched upon the arrest, officers located 1.8g of cocaine in his possession. The suspect was held for a bail hearing for the offences of theft under $5,000.00, obstruct peace officer and possession of cocaine.   

Bail Violation

On January 10, 2022 at about 10:00PM, the Brockville Police Service responded to a complaint of a domestic dispute in the area of Brock St. There, officers located a 31-year-old female who was known to be wanted. No criminal offence was reported regarding the dispute however, the female was arrested on the outstanding warrant. The warrant was in regards to a charge for failing to comply with her release order bail conditions. She was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Bail Violation

On January 6, 2022 at about 9:00PM, the Brockville Police Service attended to a residence on Kensington Pkwy. regarding a compliant of someone breaching their bail conditions. Officers arrived and investigation revealed that a 32-year-old male was visiting his ex-girlfriend when he is on bail conditions to abstain from communicating with her. The male was previously charges with offences that caused the conditions to be implemented. Once this information was learned, he was arrested and charged with the offence of failing to comply with release order and held for a bail hearing.

Robbery

On January 6, 2022 at about 9:30PM, the Brockville Police Service attended to the Shoppers Drug Mart on Parkedale Ave. in regards to a robbery. Information was that a male suspect attended the store and selected many items partially filling a shopping cart. He proceeded to leave the store making no attempt to pay for the merchandise. The suspect was confronted by an employee about the merchandise which he responded by pushing the employee to the ground. He then running off with a couple bags of the stolen items. Shortly after in a nearby area, the suspect was located by police and identified to be a 49-year-old male. He was arrested and taken into custody for the offence of robbery. The employee was not seriously injured and most of the property from the store was recovered. The suspect was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Warrants

Between the dates of January 6, 2022 and January 9, 2022 various officers from the Brockville Police Service located and arrest four different individuals who all had outstanding arrest warrants. The warrants were for the offences of failing to comply with probation or failing to attend court. With the four arrested, two were released with a new court date and the other two met the criteria to be held for a bail hearing as the warrants were unendorsed. 

RIDE Program

On January 4, 2022 at about 10:30PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service conducted a RIDE program where approximately 50 vehicles were stopped and drivers assessed for their sobriety. During the event there were multiple Provincial Offence charges issued. Three pertaining to the Highway Traffic Act and one Cannabis Control Act charge. No one was found to be driving while impaired.  

Warrants

On January 4, 2022 at about 9:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about a suspicious female in the area of Wall St. Officers attended and located a 33-year-old female in the area who matched the description. The female was seeking shelter in the area. Investigation revealed that she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest in relation to a charge of failing to comply with probation. She was arrested and later released with a future court date once shelter was provided.

Further; 

On January 5, 2022 at about 4:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received information from the Kingston Police Service that they had arrested a 37-year-old male on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with probation issued here in Brockville. The male was brought to the Brockville Police service where the warrant was executed and he was held for a bail hearing.

Further;

On January 6, 2022 at about 12:30AM, the Brockville Police Service received a noise complaint coming from a residence on Brock St. Officers arrived and found a 45-year-old male and a 34-year-old female in the residence both involved in the use of drugs. The female involved was eventually taken to the hospital regarding concerns of a possible overdose. Investigation revealed that both the male and female had outstanding bench warrants for failing to attend court. They were both processed and held for their respective bail hearings.

Bail Violation

On January 1, 2022 at about 10:15AM, officers of the Brockville Police Service conducted a traffic stop on Buell St. There were two occupants in the vehicle. There was a female driver and the passenger was a 46-year-old male who was the registered owner of the vehicle. Investigation revealed that this male was on an undertaking with conditions to abstain from communicating with the female due to safety concerns. The male was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing for the offence of fail to comply with undertaking.

Warrant

On January 1, 2022 at about 9:30PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service located a male sitting in a vehicle in the area of Centennial Rd. The vehicle was obstructing traffic. The officer identified the male and he was 31 years of age. It was found that the male had a bench warrant for his arrest for failing to attend court. He was arrested and later released with a new court date.    

Assault with a Weapon

On January 2, 2022 at about 7:45PM, the Brockville Police Service responded to a disturbance call on George St. The call was involving three females in a dispute over parking spaces. When the dispute escalated, one of the females involved threw a knife at the other two females. Investigation determined that a 33-year-old female was responsible for the assault. She was arrested and taken into custody. She was later released on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date.

Robbery / Possession of stolen property / Impaired

On December 25, 2021 at about 3:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Parkedale Ave. and Stewart Blvd. The suspect vehicle was located in the area of Jefferson Dr. When officers spoke to the driver it was evident the male driver was under the influence of a substance. The male was identified to be 37-year-old male named, Brendan Goode, who is not a resident of Brockville. Investigation revealed that he was impaired by drugs and the vehicle he was operating was stolen out of the Toronto area. He also attempted to lie about his identity and was in possession of a quantity of crystal meth and fentanyl. He was arrested and later released on an undertaking with a court date for the offences of impaired driving (drugs), possession of property obtained by crime, possession a forged document, possession of crystal meth and fentanyl, obstruct a peace officer and fail to comply with probation.  

Further;

On December 26, 2021 at about 1:15PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a vehicle that had been stolen after the owner was assaulted. The incident took place in the area of Perth St. and the suspect is the above mentioned male, Brendan Goode. The victim’s vehicle was running in the driveway when Goode approached and entered the driver seat. The owner then attempted to intervene on the theft and engage in a conversation. Goode began backing away out of the driveway of the residence and the owner jumped into the passenger seat. Goode drove away from the residence just a short distance and in that time a physical altercation took place in the vehicle. The owner was assaulted and thrown from the vehicle where he sustained injuries and was taken to hospital. Injuries are described as non-life-threatening. There were multiple witnesses to the incident. There has been a warrant issued for the suspects arrest for the offences of robbery, fail to comply with  probation, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, failure to stop after an accident, fail to comply with undertaking and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.  The vehicle in question was recovered in Quebec.

Stolen Vehicle

On December 26, 2021 at about 3:15PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a stolen vehicle from Windsor Dr. The vehicle was last seen the previous night and was taken without the owner’s knowledge or consent. The suspect was not known at the time. Later that same day the vehicle was located in the area of Sudbury, ON by the OPP. The suspect was also located nearby and arrested in relation to this incident. He is a 51-year-old male who frequents Brockville. The suspect is being brought before the courts.

Assault

On December 27, 2021 at about 11:45AM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of an assault at a residence on Victoria Ave. Information was received from a third party that it sounded like an a fight was taking place and someone was being assaulted. Police arrived on scene and spoke to the victim / resident of the address. Investigation revealed that a 44-year-old female was visiting a male at his residence when an argument ensued. During the argument, the female attacked and assaulted the male. She was arrested, charged and released on an undertaking for the offences of assault and fail to comply with probation. The injuries are non-life-threatening.

Assault

On December 29, 2021 at about 4:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of an assault. Officers spoke to the male victim of the incident who advised that he had been in an altercation with his son. Investigation revealed that the father and son had engaged in a verbal altercation that turned physical in the area of North Augusta Rd. The nature of the incident and non-life-threatening injuries indicate that an assault had taken place. The 36-year-old suspect, the victim’s son, was arrested, charged and released on an undertaking with conditions abstain from communication with the victim. Later that night, the victim received multiple forms of communication from the suspect including threats. Officers were investigating the new complaint and had grounds to arrest and charge the suspect for these new offences. However, on December 30, 2021 at about 1:00AM, the 36-year-old male attended to the Brockville Police Service and was upset. Officers spoke to the male and arrested him for the threats and failing to comply with the non-communication condition of his undertaking. During that arrest, an odour of alcohol was coming from the male and it was noticed that the male had driven to the police station. After learning this information, the demand for a roadside breath sample was given and he failed as a result. Further breath samples revealed that the male was driving with over two and a half times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. The male was held for a bail hearing. Total charges now before the courts for this subject are assault, fail to comply with undertaking, utter threats, impaired driving and driving over 80mg.          

Theft

On December 29, 2021 at about 5:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of someone breaking into a mailbox and stealing in the area of Glenn Wood Pl. Officers attended and investigation revealed that a 55-year-old man had tampered with a mailbox and stole mail. He was located within the area and was arrested for theft of mail. He was released with a future court date.

Warrants

On December 29, 2021 at about 9:30PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service were on patrol in the area of Perth St. While there, the officers observed a 52-year-old male who had an outstanding bench warrant for failing to attend court. The male was arrested and searched. During the search, the male was found to be in possession of small amounts of fentanyl and crystal meth. He was held in custody for a bail hearing on the non-endorsed bench warrant and the additional two charges of possession of fentanyl and crystal meth. 

Break and Enter

On December 23, 2021 at about 1:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a break and enter at an address on Water St. The incident was observed by a witness and the suspect was believed to be in the area. Officers arrived and did locate the suspect close by. The suspect was identified and is known to be a 40-year-old male. He was placed under arrest for the break and enter. It was found that some of the items he was attempting to steal included a tool bench, lawn mower, extension ladder, medical chair, propane tanks and multiple power tools. Once arrested, the male was found to be in possession of a substance believed to be fentanyl. While it may have been a smaller amount, this drug is extremely dangerous and small amount can easily cause harm. Once the investigation was complete, the male subject was released on an undertaking with a court date for the offences of break and enter, fail to comply with probation and possession of fentanyl.  

Scams and Fraud

The Brockville Police Service would like to inform the community to be aware of scams and potential frauds this holiday season. Moving forward into the New Year, various scams become more frequent during the income tax period as well. Please be aware and protect yourself. 

First and foremost, there is no consumer protection when buying/selling products on sites like Kijiji, Craigslist, and Facebook Market Place. There is inherent risk to these types of transactions and is a ‘buyer beware’ situation. Once you enter into an agreement to purchase an item and a product/service is obtained, it is incumbent on you, either as a seller or buyer, to ensure that the transaction is complete. If not, this is a risk that is assumed by you.

As a purchaser/seller of goods you have a responsibility to take reasonable steps to avoid becoming the victim of a fraud. These include but are not limited to;

– Meeting in-person in a public location and thoroughly inspecting the product prior to offering to buy.

– Not purchasing a product without seeing first. Most importantly; this would include payment of first and last month’s rent without attending the property first.

– As a seller, that you do not accept cheques sent in the mail as payment. Cheques are becoming a frequent method and source of fraud.

– As a buyer, never send an e-transfer to an unknown individual.

– If a deal is too good to be true, then it most likely is. Use common sense to protect yourself from people who want to take advantage of you.

Shoplifting

On December 15, 2021 at about 11:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding a theft from Shoppers Drug Mart on Parkedale Ave. It was reported that multiple fragrances were stolen from the store with a value totaling $320.00. Investigation confirmed a 40-year-old male, identified by police, took the merchandise. Later, on December 20, 2021 at about 3:00PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service located and arrested the identified male for theft under $5,000.00. When he was located, it was also discovered that the male was in breach of his probation conditions. He was present with a female, which he is on conditions to abstain from communicating with. Once the investigation was complete, he was charged and released on an undertaking for the offences of theft under $5,000.00 and fail to comply with probation. He has been given a future court date.  

Domestic Dispute

On December 21, 2021 at about 5:00AM, the Brockville Police Service responded to a 911 call that had been disconnected prior to receiving information about the complaint. Officers attended to check the residence on King St. E., where the call originated from, to ensure everyone’s safety.  When officers arrived they located a male and female couple who had been involved in a domestic dispute. Investigation revealed that the 45-year-old female had thrown a furniture item at her male partner. She was placed under arrest for assault with a weapon. Once the investigation was completed, she was released on an undertaking for the above mentioned offence with conditions and a future court date. Any injuries are considered minor in nature. 

Warrant and Personation

On December 22, 2021 at about 9:00PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service located and arrested a 26-year-old female who had multiple warrants for her arrest including; a bench warrant for fail to attend court and a warrant in first instance for failing to attend for fingerprinting. When the female was originally located, she attempted to identify herself as a different female with a piece of stolen, government issued identification. She was later released on an undertaking for the above mentioned offences pertaining to the warrants. She was additionally charged with personation with intent to avoid arrest and possession of an identity document.

Warrants

On December 20, 2021 at about 10:45PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding a female at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Parkedale Ave. It was believed the female was attempting to steal items. Officers arrived quickly and located the female. The female was identified as a 37-year-old female who had outstanding warrants for her arrest. These were bench warrants for failing to attend court on previous theft and failing to comply with probation charges. She was arrested and released with a new court date.

Further;

On December 22, 2021 at about 4:45PM, a 32-year-old female attended the Brockville Police Service to turn herself in due to an outstanding bench warrant for fail to attend court. She was issued a new court date and released.

Warrants

On December 17^th, 2021 at about 11:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding a possible wanted person at an establishment in the downtown area. Officers arrived and confirmed the information. A 33-year-old female was arrested on an outstanding warrant for the offence of assault. The female was released on an appearance notice with a future court date. 

Further;

On December 19^th, 2021 at about 8:20PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint to check on the well-being of a female on King ST. E. Officers located a 33-year-old female who was struggling in the elements. It was found that she did have an outstanding bench warrant for failing to appear for court. She was arrested and released with a future court date. Arrangements were made for the female to be safe and in shelter for the night.

Further;

On December 20^th, 2021 at about 1:30AM on William St., officers from the Brockville Police Service located a 33-year-old male that was known to be wanted for failing to appear for court. The male was arrested on his outstanding bench warrant. He was released shortly after with a future court date.

Breach Probation

On December 14, 2021 at about Noon, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of what sounded like a domestic dispute at a residence on Brock St. Officers arrived and found a male and female couple who were engaged in a domestic dispute. One who was involved in the dispute was a 37-year-old male who is on conditions not to be within 100 meters of others who reside it the area of their location. While no criminal charges came as a result of the dispute, the male was arrested for breaching his probation conditions. He was charged and released with a future court date. 

Break and Enter

On December 14, 2021 at about 5:00PM, the Brockville Police Service responded to a report of a break and enter at the Employment and Education Centre on Strowger Blvd. Officers arrived and located a 33-year-old male who was making attempts to break into the building. The male was arrested for break and enter and taken into custody. He was later released on and undertaking with conditions and a future court date.

Cause Disturbance

On December 15, 2021 at about 7:15PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a male in the area of the 1000 Islands Mall who was causing a disturbance. It was reported that he was shouting, swearing and walking into traffic at random. Officers arrived and spent time attempting to calm the 28-year-old male. He was not cooperative with police and was taken into custody. He spent the majority of the night yelling, spitting and causing problems. He was later released after being charged with causing a disturbance and breach probation.

Domestic Dispute

On December 16, 2021 at about 10:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a domestic dispute on Cartier Crt. Officers attended and spoke to the couple involved. Investigation revealed that a 70-year-old female had assaulted her male partner and in fact, pulled a knife on him. The female was arrested and taken into custody. After further investigation, it was decided to charge the female with assault and assault with a weapon. She was later released on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date. No one was injured in this incident.

Domestic Dispute:

On December 11, 2021 at about 12:30AM, the Brockville Police Service responded to a domestic dispute on Brock St. Officers spoke to the parties involved. Investigation revealed that a physical altercation had taken place. A 38-year-old female was arrested for assault, uttering threats and failing to comply with probation. Her partner involved did receive medical attention for non-life threatening injuries. Once the investigation was complete, the accused was released on an undertaking for the above mentioned offences with a future court date.

Warrants:

Over the weekend the officers from the Brockville Police Service executed three different arrest warrants on individuals within our community. They were the following;

December 10^th, 2021 at about 10:00AM a 39-year-old female was arrested on her outstanding warrant for failing to comply with her release order. The warrant was unendorsed and the female was held for a bail hearing.

December 11^th, 2021 at about 6:30PM a 50-year-old male was arrested on his outstanding bench warrant for failing to attend court. The warrant was unendorsed and the male was held for a bail hearing.

December 12^th, 2021 at about 5:00PM a 49-year-old male was arrested on his outstanding endorsed bench warrant for failing to attend court. This individual turned himself into police for the warrant to be executed. Once processed he was released on an appearance notice with a future court date.
