On Monday March 21, 2016 between 7 and 8 pm, a group of males forced their way into an apartment 12 Cartier Court and assaulted the two male occupants inside. The victims were able to escape the apartment, and were helped by an unidentified male and brought to a neighbours residence who called police. The victims were taken to BGH for treatment for minor injuries and released several hours later.

Harassment Complaint

On March 20th at 7:07 pm., Brockville Police began investigating a harassment complaint. A local, 20 year old female, was being bothered at her workplace by her boyfriend. The young man had called her employer over and over during the day. He then threatened the victim’s supervisor.

Police arrested and charged the local 20 year old accused. He faces charges of harassment and uttering threats. He was held in custody and will appear in bail court.

Quick Change Fraud Update

Our quick change artist has now been charged with 5 counts of fraud and possession of property obtained by crime.

He is a 28 year old originally from the East coast. He had been working out west for a number of years and was returning home when he was caught for his crimes.

He has been held in custody and will appear in bail court.

Quick Change Fraud

On or about March 15th, multiple quick change frauds took place in Brockville. Several restaurant locations have noticed and reported loss. Amounts reported to have been lost by individual locations are in the range of $75-$98 so far.  

The suspect is described to be a white male in his late 20’s to early 30’s, short red/brown hair, approx. 5’9” and medium build. He was wearing black pants, red sweater and a charcoal grey coat in some of the incidents with a black back pack.

Fire

In the afternoon on March 19th at 3:30pm, the Brockville Police were notified of a residential structure fire on Broadway Ave.  

At the time the fire was initiated the residence had multiple occupants inside. The Brockville Fire Department attended promptly and ensured everyone was out of the residence and safe.

The fire does not appear to have been suspicious in nature.

Warrant

On March 15th at 6:07 pm., Brockville Police arrested a woman wanted on a warrant from Gananoque.

The local, 34 year old, was arrested and held in custody until Officers from their Service could attend. Gananoque was holding the female in custody pending a bail hearing.

Breach of Conditions

On March 15th at 6:25 pm., Brockville Police arrested a local woman for breaching conditions of her community sentence.

The 37 year old, was sentenced to house arrest as a result of charges dealt with earlier this year. Police discovered her away from her residence and subsequently arrested the woman and took her into custody. She was held until a bail hearing and faces the possibility of going back into a custodial facility.

Well Being Check

On March 15th at 8:15 pm., Brockville Police received information concerning the mental health of a local, 31 year old male.

Officers interviewed the man and decided to take him to hospital for appropriate attention. The man was later admitted to receive proper care.

Theft from Vehicle

On March 16th at 6:28 am., Brockville Police took a complaint involving theft of change from a vehicle. Sometime overnight, unknown culprit(s) entered the vehicle while it sat parked at a north end residence.

Police remind people to lock their vehicles when unattended and to remove all valuables. If your vehicle was recently entered, Police would like to hear from you. Even if you suffered no loss, it assists investigations when trying to find the responsible parties. Police have had several similar reports to start the week. A spike in this time of crime is associated with higher temperatures each spring.

Shoplifting

On March 14th at 11:11 am., Brockville Police attended a department store in the center of town for a theft complaint.

A local, 19 year old male, stole items from the store but got caught in the act.  The young man was also on probation at the time with one of his conditions being to keep the peace and maintain good behaviour.  Officers arrested and charged the man with theft and breaching his probation.

He was released from custody and given a future court date.

Domestic Assault

On March 13th at 12:27 pm., Brockville Police started a domestic assault investigation.

A local, 33 year female, reported being assaulted by her husband earlier in the day. The local, 35 year old man, struck the female in the face while they were pulled over to the roadside. They began arguing over how to discipline their children who were present in the vehicle. When speaking to the victim, Officers learned of two other incidents when the accused damaged items in the home. One incident was from earlier this year and the other from May of 2015.

The accused was arrested later in the afternoon and charged with two counts of mischief and an assault. The victim suffered minor injuries in the assault. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Assault

On March 13th at 2:43 pm., Brockville Police entered into an assault investigation.

A local, 50 year old female, reported her boyfriend shoved her and caused injuries to her arm and face when she fell into a piece of furniture. The injuries are minor in nature.

The local, 47 year old suspect, was arrested and charged with assault. He was released on conditions and given a future court date.

Well Being Check

On March 10th at 4:19 pm., Brockville Police attended a south end residence for a female in distress. Police had received third hand information that the woman was threatening self harm.

The 50 year old, originally from the east coast, was apprehended for her own safety. She was escorted to hospital for appropriate care.

Threats

On March 11^th at approximately 9:00 am, Brockville Police received a call regarding a man threatening to shoot people.

The man was pacing in front of a vehicle in a department store lot in the center of town. Before Police arrived in the area, the male had left walking west bound on Central Avenue. Officers located the male in the area of St. Mary’s Catholic School.

After his arrest, Officers noted the man was in need of mental health assistance. He was taken to hospital and remains there at this time.

Drug Offences

On March 8th at 3:31 pm., Brockville Police stopped a local female walking on a downtown street. Officers had received information she was in possession of drugs.

A search was completed subsequent to her arrest which turned up seven different types of pills, packaged for re-sale and a quantity of marijuana. The items were being carried in a couple totes.

The 29 year old was charged with seven counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking and one count of possession of a controlled substance. The woman was also on conditions in regards to outstanding charges and was charged with breaching one of her conditions. Later the same day, she was released on conditions and given a future court date.

Family Dispute

On March 8th at 5:25 pm., Brockville Police attended a family dispute at a south end residence.

A verbal dispute turned physical between a local 20 year old female and her 62 year old step-father. Police determined the altercation was a mutual shoving match between the two and the parties were separated for the remainder of the evening. Neither party was complaining of an assault .The male suffered some minor scratches.

Drug Offences

On March 9th at 12:06 am., members of the Brockville Police Drug Unit in conjunction with Grenville OPP Officers, executed a search warrant at a local hotel room.

A 24 year old male, from the Toronto area, was arrested and charged after Officers located a quantity of MDMA also known as ecstasy. The man was charged with possession of a controlled substance and released on conditions with a future court date.

Theft

On March 7th at 1:18 pm., Brockville Police attended a department store on Parkedale Avenue for an internal theft complaint.

Officers arrested and charged a local, 18 year old female, who was discovered stealing from her employer while working the cash area of the store. She was released on the theft charge and issued a future court date.

Intoxicated Person

On March 7th at 10:39 pm., Brockville Police attended the sidewalk area in front of a drinking establishment on King Street West.

A local, 62 year old male, was discovered intoxicated and lying on the concrete. Officers arrested the man for his own safety. When sober, the male was released with a fine.

Police Assistance

On March 7th at 11:28 pm., Brockville Police responded to a single motor vehicle accident on the 401 at Ormond Street.

A 39 year old male, from the Orillia area, lost control of his truck and the vehicle ended up rolling over. The man was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to Brockville hospital and eventually transferred to Kingston.

The 401 westbound was closed from that time till later this morning but is now open again. The investigation was turned over to the OPP.

Domestic Assault

On February 29th, 2016, Brockville Police began investigating a domestic assault complaint. A local female reported several events that took place between her and her spouse which involved assaults and threats.

Police arrested the local, 52 year old man on the weekend and remanded him into custody for a bail hearing. He faces three counts of assault and two charges of uttering threats. The female received non-life threatening injuries during the assaults. The offences stemmed mainly from incidents in 2015.

Intoxicated Person

On March 4th at 3:36 pm., Brockville Police attended the Brockville Public Library to deal with an intoxicated male.

A local, 56 year old, was spoken to and found heavily under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and charged with public intoxication. When sober, the male was released with a fine.

Traffic Stop

On March 6th at 3:03 pm., Brockville Police stopped a motor vehicle in the center of the city.

The local, 45 year old, male driver, was found to be a suspended driver. Further investigation revealed the man had been charged 15 times for driving while suspended. A warrant had been issued for his arrest due to his extreme disrespect for previous court imposed suspensions. The man was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Theft

On March 6th at 4:04 pm., Brockville Police attended a department store in the center of town for a theft complaint.

Police dealt with a 44 year old female from Quebec. The theft from the store could not be proven, however, she was on three different undertakings for domestic related charges.   One of the conditions of each undertaking was to abstain from the consumption of alcohol. At the time of this offence, she had been drinking heavily. Officers arrested and charged the woman with breaching her undertaking and she was then held in custody for a bail hearing.

Community Service

On March 6th at 7:50 pm. and 9:43 pm., Brockville Police attended separate calls to check on the mental health of people.

A local, 18 year old male and a 41 year old male were taken to hospital after expressing thoughts of self harm. Both men were left in the care of hospital staff.

Officers remained at the hospital for several hours to ensure no further issues with either male.
