Traffic Stop results in arrest and charges

Two Brockville men are facing charges as a result of a traffic stop yesterday morning at 10:30 a.m. on Buell Street.

Patrol officers spotted the vehicle being operated by a 40 year old Brockville man for a traffic violation on Buell Street. A check confirmed the man was prohibited from driving for a previous Criminal Code conviction and as a result was placed under arrest for prohibited driving. While searching the man after the arrest a quantity of counterfeit money and drugs, believed to be crystal methamphetamines, was located. As a result he was taken into custody and conveyed to the Brockville Police Service.

During the stop it was learned that his 35 year old male passenger was currently at large on a recognizance of bail with several conditions including not being in a motor vehicle he is not the registered owner of. As a result, he was also arrested for breaching his recognizance and conveyed to the Brockville Police headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing.
