Bank Security Scam
Brockville Police were alerted by area residents Friday of a scam re-appearing in the area over text message asking the receiver to verify their banking information.
Residents contacted the police to advise they had received a text message from persons alleging to be from bank corporate security advising them their account had been temporarily suspended and providing them with a link to reactivate their account information.
Police remind area residents that bank security personnel do not send out security alerts via text message. If you receive such a message please contact your local bank branch and advise them and check with them on the status of your account. Never provide your account or any banking information to someone you do not know.
Mental Health Act calls
Friday was a busy day for the Brockville Police Service and their Mental Health community partners as three persons were apprehended under the Mental Health Act and brought to hospital for their safety.
On one call for service, medical staff became concerned about the well-being of one of their patients living in the community and signed an order to have them brought to the Brockville General Hospital for examination by a physician.
The other two calls to the police were from family and friends asking police to check on the well-being of a loved one as they had received some concerning messages. In both cases police attended and felt it best they be taken to the hospital for examination.
Warrants Executed
A 53 year old Brockville man was arrested Friday after a call was received of a suspicious male lying in the grass near Food Basics.
At approximately 12:40 pm Friday afternoon, Brockville Police received a call of the suspicious male near Food Basics and located him in the grass nearby. Further investigation revealed he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for Breaching his Recognizance and as a result was taken in to custody on the outstanding charges.
Early Friday evening a 38 year old Brockville woman was arrested for an outstanding warrant for breaching her Probation. The woman, who is known to police, was taken into custody for a brief period of time while the warrant was executed and released with a future court date.
RIDE Check leads to arrest
Brockville Police conducted RIDE program checks during the evening and early morning hours on Saturday. Over 100 vehicles were stopped and no impaired driving charges resulted from the RIDE checks.
However while conducting the RIDE check, a 34 year old Brockville woman who is known to police was spotted in a vehicle and it was confirmed she had outstanding warrants from the OPP. She was arrested and conveyed to the Brockville Police Headquarters where she was turned over to the OPP who in turn released her with a future court date.
Hit and Run on Park Street
Officers from the Brockville Police continue to investigate a hit and run accident which occurred on Park Street early Sunday morning.
At approximately 2:40 am Sunday morning police received a call of a hit and run which just occurred on Park Street. The suspect vehicle was observed to continue south on Park Street to King Street where it turned and continued east bound. The suspect vehicle was described as being a Toyota RAV 4, 4-door hatchback and a rust colour with visible damage to the right front corner.
The suspect vehicle was located later Sunday morning and towed to a secure compound. Sunday afternoon the registered owner of the vehicle attended to the Brockville Police Service and told police he had parked his vehicle in the TISS parking lot overnight and left it unlocked with the keys in it and wished to report his vehicle stolen. The vehicle is being held for forensic examination by Detective Paul Smith of the Forensic Identification unit.

Medical Assistance
Officers from the Brockville Police Service were called to the front of 10 Cartier Court early Sunday morning when a female dressed only in pyjamas was wondering out in front and appeared confused and unable to speak.
At 4:20 am Brockville officers located the woman on Cartier Court by herself and without any identification on her person. Concerned for her well-being officers contacted EMS who conveyed the woman to Brockville General Hospital where she was kept for examination.
On Sunday afternoon, hospital staff reported to police they still had no identification for the female and while she was able to say a few words, was not able to tell staff her name.
As a result, officers from the Brockville Police canvassed the area around Cartier Court in an attempt to identify the woman and also issued a public appeal to the media for their assistance in obtaining her identity.
As a result of this, a number of tips were received and the identity of the woman was confirmed and her family members contacted.
Theft of SeaDoo
Sometime overnight Saturday unknown persons attended to Matt’s Auto located on Stewart Boulevard just north of the William Street overpass and took a SeaDoo and trailer from the parking lot.
Brockville Police were contacted at approximately 8:30 am Saturday morning and advised of the theft from the businesses parking lot. Nearby vehicles in the parking lot were left untouched while the theft took place.

Tire Slashing continues
Vehicles parked in the area of the Brockville Arts Centre continue to be the target of tire slashers. On Sunday morning two more vehicles suffered damage by their tires being slashed.

Threats
A 21 year old Brockville area man was arrested and charged with threatening in relation to a relationship with his former partner.
The female victim attended to police headquarters saying she feared for her safety from man after he made some threatening comments to her and sent a number of text messages to her friends and family members.
Police contacted the young man by phone and advised him of the incident and he agreed to come to the Brockville Police headquarters and turned himself in. He was later released with several conditions and given a future court date.
