Struggle with Court Staff results in charges
A 33 year old man from the Brockville area will now face additional charges of Obstructing Police as a result of struggling with Brockville Police staff at the court building on Monday.
At approximately 10:30 yesterday morning after the man was finished speaking with his counsel, he refused to return to his cell where he was waiting for his court appearance later that morning. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation by speaking with him to convince him to return to his cell so his matter could be dealt with. He then began to struggle with court staff and had to be restrained and returned to the cells in hand cuffs and shackles.
At an earlier court appearance the man had struggled with staff and refusing to go in the prisoner transport back to the correctional facility where he is being held in custody.
As a result, the man is now facing additional charges of Obstructing Police and will appear again in court on a future date.
