Assault with a Weapon

On the 1st of July, 2018 at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding a family dispute. The incident involved a 22 year old, local male, assaulting his 27 year old brother with a baseball bat. The victim was taken to BGH with non-life threatening injuries. The 22 year old accused was arrested and later released from custody with a future court date for the offences of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and a breach of his probation order.

Impaired Driving

On the 2nd of July, 2018, officers from the Brockville Police Service performed a traffic stop in the City as there was concern for the driver’s sobriety. As a result of the stop they found a 52 year old, local male who had an odour of alcohol coming from his breath. A demand to provide a breath sample was issued and the driver refused to provide a sample. The male was charged for refusing to provide a sample along with multiple other Highway Traffic Act offences. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days and driver’s licence suspended for 90 days. It is important to remember that penalties for refusing to provide breath samples regarding alcohol impairment while driving can be equivalent to a charge of Impaired Driving.
