April 1 – 2, 2016 Incidents

Traffic Complaint

On April 1st at 4:57 pm., Brockville Police were travelling eastbound on Parkedale Avenue when another eastbound vehicle cut them off almost causing an accident.

Officers spoke with the local, 70 year old, female driver, and felt she was in need of attention in regards to her mental health. She was taken to hospital where after an evaluation by medical staff, she was admitted for appropriate care.

Police did not lay charges in the incident.

 

Shoplifting

On April 1st at 8:38 pm., Brockville Police attended a box store on Parkedale Avenue for a theft complaint.

A local, 29 year old female, had been caught stealing several hundred dollars worth of items. The woman was also serving a sentence in the community for prior theft convictions from late last year. She was arrested and charged with theft and breaching her conditional sentence.

She was held in custody and will appear in bail court.

 

Unlawfully at Large

On April 1st at 9:31 pm., Brockville Police attended the Brockville Jail in regards to a young man who failed to show for his weekend sentence.

The 21 year old, from the Joyceville area, was to report every Friday night to serve weekends until his sentence was completed. There is now a warrant for his arrest for being unlawfully at large.

 

Public Intoxication

On April 1st at 7:36 pm., Brockville Police received a complaint of a young man, intoxicated, being refused service at a downtown retail store. He fled the area before Officers arrived.

Police received another call about the male at 8:45 pm., and he was finally located in the Tim Horton’s on William Street at 9:32 pm. The man was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries and observation.

On April 2nd at 9:54 am., hospital staff contacted Police as he was now being discharged. Officers arrested the local, 25 year old, on an outstanding warrant. He was released soon after on conditions and given a future court date.

 

Assault

On April 1st at 10:13 pm., Brockville Police attended a downtown bar for an assault complaint.

Two local females were assaulted by two men after a verbal dispute turned physical. The two victims received minor injuries and did not require medical treatment. The two men had insulted staff within the business and the female victims had intervened on their behalf.

The two males, aged 57 and 53 years of age reside in the Prescott area. Both were arrested and charged with assault. They are now both on conditions of release with a future court date.

 

Assisting EMS

On April 2nd at 1:56 pm., Brockville Police responded to St. Vincent hospital on Garden Street to assist ambulance staff.

A local, 54 year old male, was exhibiting violent behaviour and staff wanted Police help in transporting the patient to the Brockville General Hospital. Officers completed the escort as requested.

 

Public Intoxication

On April 2nd at 10:30 pm., Brockville Police received a complaint of a young man running down the street in the area of Perth and George Street.

Police located the local, 21 year old, who had obviously consumed lots of alcohol. For his own safety, he was arrested for public intoxication. He was released with a fine when sober.
