On December 15th at 10:25 am., the Brockville Police Intelligence Unit in partnership with the Ministry of Finance, executed a search warrant on a residence in the center of the city.
As a result of an investigation that started several months ago, officers seized a large quantity of unstamped, contraband cigarettes. The street value of which ranges from $10,000 to $12,000. Charges were laid under the Tabacco Tax Act and the accused was released with a future court date. Brockville Police also seized eleven long guns while executing the warrant. The accused was not in possession of the the proper permits or registrations for these firearms. Subsequent charges were laid under the criminal code for illegal possession of same. The local, 54 year old male, was issued a second court date for the charges in relation to the firearms.
