Public Intoxication

On May 24th at approximately 12:30 am,  Brockville Police observed an intoxicated male on Courthouse Avenue.

The local, 23 year old was arrested for his own safety.  He was released later that day when sober and issued a fine.

Break and Enter

On May 22nd, at approximately 12:35 pm, Brockville Police took a complaint of a break and enter to a boat at Block House Island.

The owner believes sometime overnight on the 20th/21st, unknown subjects entered the boat and took alcohol as well as causing minor damage.

Police are asking anyone who may have information to contact us.

Vandalism at Rotary Park

Brockville Police are requesting the public’s help in locating persons or obtaining information in regards to mischief at the Rotary park.

On Tuesday, May 19th, between the hours of 8:00 pm and 10:30 pm., the washrooms, park benches and skateboard pad were spray painted.

This damage is senseless and frustrating. Many members of the community and community organizations have spent a lot of time, effort and funds to revitalize this downtown recreation area.

Operation Impact

During the week of May 12th to 18th, Brockville Police Officers took part in Operation Impact.

Approximately 300 motor vehicle operators had contact with police whether through RIDE programs or random stops.

  • Four drivers were charged with Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle.
  • Sixty-six charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act. They ranged from speeding and seatbelt offences to insurance violations and unsafe lane changes.

Brockville Police reported no serious motor vehicle collisions over this time period that included the May long weekend.

Drug Arrest

On May 20th at approximately 4:00 pm, members of the Brockville Police Investigations Branch along with Uniform Officers, worked in combination to arrest and charge a local male in possession of a large quantity of cocaine.

Ian Ballantyne, 32 years of age, tried to elude Police on foot along a south end bike path but did not get very far.  Police also seized a quantity of cash and two cell phones.

Ballantyne was also charged with breaching an outstanding probation order and will appear  in bail court.

Theft from veh over night on Salisbury Ave. Vehicle had been locked, but old damage to the door may have allowed entry. Duffle bag with $5000 worth of climbing gear taken along with Oakley sunglasses and Beats by Dre ear bud headphones. Any information please call Cst. Keith Grace and 613 342 0127 x6091.

Shoplifting at Walmart. Two female suspects both 35 years of age and from the Kanata area were arrested leaving the store with approx. $700.00 worth of merchandise. where one suspect would distract staff while the other wheeled out a full cart of items. They have been given court dates for theft.

A home on the Perth and Alexander St was entered sometime between 1530 and 1600 while resident was out doing yard work. Jewelry was stolen. White male 30’s 220 lbs, dark hair wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt and a green military type cap was seen leaving by neighbour. If you have any information please call Cst. Traffic stop made at Stewart at Jefferson Drive. The driver claimed to be a Freeman of the Land and therefore refused to surrender his documents when requested. He was arrested for Obstruct and found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. His vehicle was towed and he was charged with Obstruct, Driver under Suspension and Driver, no Insurance. He was subsequently released with a future court date.

During this 24 hour period the Brockville Police Service investigated 3 separate incidents and made three separate apprehensions under the Mental Health Act for the safety of the individuals involved where they were transported to the Brockville General Hospital for care.

Breach of Probation

On May 13th at approximately 12:10 am, Brockville Police came across an intoxicated male while on general patrol in the south end of the city.

The local, 24 year old male, was on probation conditions which included the non-consumption of alcoholic beverages.  He was arrested and charged with breaching his probation order ands was released when sober with a future court date.

Domestic Dispute

On May 12th at approximately 10:00 pm, Brockville Police responded to a domestic dispute at an apartment building in the south end of the city.

The 45 year old, male resident, was involved in a dispute with his female partner.  During the dispute, the male damaged a door in the residence.  He was arrested for the offence of mischief and was released later on conditions and given a court date in the future.

Shoplifting

On May 12th, at approximately 3:45 pm, Brockville Police responded to a north end grocery store in regards to a shoplifting complaint.

A 40 year old, local female was arrested and charged with theft under $5000.00  She was released at the scene with a future court date.
